    Who rebuilt your DAZA?

I suspect that many of us are going to have the bottom end rebuilt during the fall and winter months to accommodate a bigger turbo. We know the West coast shops that have done many of these motors (IROZ and Eurocode), but not much from any East coast shops or any other shops for that matter.

Please share with the group who rebuilt your motor, describe your experience and whether you would use them again.

TCR in NJ is the place in the east that has done this. They are using the IROZ kit on their car and shown their RS3 is mighty fast!

IROZ has done the most.... they do several a month. Why would you even consider anybody else?!

I am certain that they have done the most experience, but it is costly to ship a car from the east coast to Las Vegas. Probably about $2,000 each way to ship the car and $250 each way to ship just the motor, which isn't bad i guess. To be honest though this isn't rocket science. The pistons and rods are drop-in and no machine work is necessary and all you really need are the necessary tools to retime the motor. However, I wouldn't want to leave my car with anyone that hasn't done this job before.

Go see Josh at TCR Performance in New Jersey. They are the East Coast dealer for Iroz and will set you up right.

I have seen enough 'builds' go south due to inexperience. Go with IROZ or one of their 'certified' partners. I am sure they exist on the each coast. TCR to name one...

If you're car is driveable, save the shipping costs and drive out to Iroz and fly back.
Once it's done fly there and drive back.

What's the average labor cost for rods a pistons? Do I have to buy that valve train kit too?

I was debating driving down to NJ from Toronto to have this done. Unless someone knows of any dealers in the golden horseshoe area...

Pricing various some from what I have found. If you buy all the parts from the same shop they give a better "package" deal. If you source these parts online and have the shop do the install they charge shop rate which can be higher. I have also found a seasonal rate for some during slow or busy months. I would just call them and explain what you want to be done and work a deal out.

BTW I got quoted less than $6500 but I was also looking for BT at the same time.

Eurocharge Canada in TO? They have some serious builds.

Josh is great, I'd definately recommend TCR but if you're in TO then Eurocharged Canada makes more sense - they've built several 2.5's and have 2 of the fastest cars around.

Eurocharged is solid, I just tend to gravitate toward the Iroz/CC ecosystem and am hesitant to go for an EC build and then get Iroz/CC bolt-ons/tune. I'd assume EC builds are a better complement to EC tunes.

not sure it makes that much difference but trust me, you're losing nothing by going with an ECC Tune, Slav is one of the best in the business, he just doesn't get the same notariety because they don't try to push much outside of their geographic circle.

talk to them, Slav or Vlad and see what they have to say, again TCR is great too -but it's probably 10 hours from TO and for what's an otherwise sideways move I'd stay local - again, there is no wrong answer per say but ECC can build, tune and dyno all in house- and what a house it is too- ECC is an impressive shop. Good Luck !

Definitely makes more sense. If you have any issues(and you will have some) , you're at least close and can get them sorted out without much hassle.

Anybody know of a shop near South Texas that can build the RS3 engine?

Even if you get your answer, the price won’t be the same. That was 6 years ago before hyperinflation. Expect to pay close to double that.

Only suggestion I'd have for everyone is to do your research. Not on the forums only.

Advertising budgets are great, world of mouth too. When you start to peel back the onion of the RS3 / TTRS / DAZA scene you'll start to find out things about vendors and shops that are common knowledge to those but don't make it onto the forums.

Join some Facebook groups, research and see whats out there, talk to current owners. Usually its a combo of a few dealers to work with. Some items from dealers are great, some you should stay away from and some charge alot more. You will find out which parts are know to fail, builders who have alot of engine failures out there, etc.

I'm about sourcing local and like to be my own "GC" on the job. So I've used parts and vendors from all over.

In Toronto, go with EC for your engine work, they some proven builds.

If you want to go with another Machine shop build (not just drop in) Alberta Race Engines will do you solid.

After a lot of research I didn't want to do drop ins.
