I'd love to have an economics discussion about all of it... But yes, not the point here. I'll say this - I'd actually disagree and say the RS is a low volume, high margin vehicle for them. Shared chassis, engines, etc between models means a decent economy of scale across the development. They get the premium on the RS by adding bells and whistles, the name and gobs of power.
There was a very interesting article in The Economist this week looking at VAG financials, actually. They focused mostly on Porsche - tiny volume but ridiculously high margins, driving a lot of total VAG profit. Porsche benefits significantly from the shared development of platforms and then slapping their logo on it. Audi sees a bunch of this benefit as well, though not to the same extent.
Anyways, let's get back to talking about different colors for the cars and which options make the most sense, hahahaha
