    2013 Allroad CV axle help!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I’m currently having issues finding CV axles for my 2013 Audi Allroad A4 Quattro premium. So far I’ve found GKN front cv axles for an A4 (https://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts...iABEgJKxfD_BwE), but don’t think they fit the Allroad. The only vehicle specific axles I’ve found are $87 Duralasts (https://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts...SABEgKB0vD_BwE), but I’m worried that they’re too cheap and will fail quickly. Is this a genuine concern? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Raxles has the best ones so far that I have heard, about $300 a piece. I used the cardone reman's on rockauto.com but I think they are out of stock. Long as you go with a reman, you should be alright, you dont want to have a chinese knockoff with a solid shaft on one side and a oem hollow shaft which is balanced on the other.

Part number 8K0407271AL shows as proper CV axle for A4Q, A5Q & Allroad.

I'd buy a good used factory axle and reboot it before buying any of that <$100 crap at the parts stores.

Its interesting I am actually having the same issue. I am finding a lot of parts websites simply don't properly note what things are always applicable to the B8 allroad. From what I can tell based on looking at the OEM part numbers as long as it is a part applicable to the same year A4 you should be ok.

That being said, I have been debating going with the GKN option personally. It is a little less expensive than Raxles (I was quoted around 400$ or so if i remember); from what I can tell GKN is the OEM manufacturer, so you would save a few hundred $ by not getting the audi logo stamped on it.

GKN-Lobro has been OEM on VW/Audi for over 30 years for the most part. The front axles on the AllRoad should be the same as the 2013 quattro sedans. Rears might be different, but with MLB platforms it might all be the same in the name of parts sharing.

Have used GKN on MB’s before. High quality boots and OE. Go that route

The driver's side front axle went out on my 2013 allroad went out earlier this year. My Audi shop had it rebuilt.... for a fraction of the cost.... and it works like a charm. I have 148,000 miles on mine. Good run on the first one.

Best option is to regresse and reboot, but aside from that GKN is an excellent alternative. Chinese CV’s are utter waste of time. Boot will crack or the entire CV joint will break in 5-50k. See it all the time.

Gott laove quality shipping practices! Thankfully the axle bolt was still in the box and everything looks good lol. Picked up 6 of the hex bolts also that connect the axle to the trans in case of stripping during removal. Should be giving this a go tomorrow

I've done that job several times on several Audis. Never stripped those bolts (I think they're a triple square now) and always reused them with no issues.

Wow I would have sent that right back. UPS dropped my last set of wheels off the back of the truck while driving apparently, they only wound up delivering 3 of the 4 wheels to my house and one of the boxes was crushed and the wheel had a huge chunk missing out of it. lol

Anyone ever notice that the axle bolt has rusted to basically an 18 mm size? I have the new bolt that a 17 mm fits tight and the one in the car has a good deal of play

I'm doing new GKN CV joints/boots on my existing axles. Why replace the whole thing?
