3.0T Avants for sale sightings

Can you educate me on how a bad injector would cause burnt exhaust valve? I have the 11A6 and wondering if I should replace injectors @ 135k as preventative measure. Thanks for any light you can shed.

It's all just speculation at this point but I think the injector went bad, caused that cylinder to run lean thus causing it to run hot and it was driven for an extended period of time because the PO didn't want to pay to fix it, and eventually burned the valve and caused loss of compression in that cylinder. I never found out for certain because I replaced the injector on that cylinder just for good measure.

I can't say for certain because it went through 3 or 4 sets of hands within a few months before me of people probably thinking it just needed a coil and after they found out it likely needed an engine they just dumped it. Poor thing :/

Ok thanks - enjoy.. I enjoy mine but seem to have a suspension alignment issue that no one can properly diagnosis. replaced rear subframe bolts and had car aligned which helped massively but now I'm hunting worn suspension items as probable cause and that's not something I can DIY at my level of knowledge but otherwise it's a great car. I see you have the S4 swap with manual. That might be the only thing I'd trade the A6 for as I miss the manual engagement.

Oh yeah - push to start was available as far back as '07

My previous 2006 A6 4.2 S line had push to start.

Reading this thread and after getting the production numbers (262 overall in 2009 and 6 Condor Gray with the light gray interior) from Audi makes me realize how lucky I am to have my A6.. lol. Figured I would never find a 3.0t for a reasonable price so I was going to settle for an 05-08 3.2... until I found this.

2009 Prestige Condor Gray w/ light gray interior. Has every option except cold weather package and rear park sensors.. but it has back up cam (wtf Audi?). Was listed at $3900 with 193k miles and "needing a tune up" I knew it was too good to be true and expected the worst. Negotiated him down to $2900 and it was mine. Turned out it burnt an exhaust valve presumably from being driven for an extended period with a misfire from a bad injector is my best guess. $1000 in a used cyl head and gaskets later and it's been perfect and just hit 198k and doesn't miss a beat. Couldn't ask for a better daily.

In 09 the backup cam came with the prestige package, and parking sensors were an individual option.

Im curious about this one. Its a prestige BTW and could possibly be a special order color.

My sense is just black interior from what I can tell. If it was a 2011 I would buy it site unseen and figure it out later.

Well that red avant in Bend is going back to the auction block, dealership said it didn't pass their inspection for whatever reason. So if you know someone with access to dealer auctions that could be a good one to follow.

Dealerships don't want to put a dollar into a car. It might need just new tires, or brake pads, something stupid like that.

Its a 10 year old car, at minimum. Its not going to be worth putting tires or brakes on. Then they would never sell it for a profit. They would have to go under on it to get the car off their lot.

The only way an auction takes a car back is if there is significant problems - ie cats/emissions or a transmission etc. But If it was a sold as a 4 or above grade and truned out to be a turd, then they have to take it back. Its a mechanics special :-) **Paging AJ***

Just because the dealer is sending it back doesnt mean they are challenging or arbitrating the auction. They could have just realized it was too expensive for them to sell with the work that was needed and turned around and shot it back to the chutes.

09-10 had the same bumper, all 2011 Avants got the S-line front and rear bumper.

Dang...one with lower miles than mine. LOL!! I think I just passed 66K recently. Bought it with 38K 2 years ago. Loveland, CO....great excuse to go to CO to see my sister. If I was still looking or itching for another one, I’d be on that plane to get it.

Yeah at that mileage needs timing and other oil leaks sorted. And rarely anybody wants to do that. They rather sell it.

Think they listed it again 4/8, Nissan is still going through their inspection/intake process.

I've called both Nissan and Audi of Bend, they won't spill the beans on why Audi of Bend dumped the Red Avant. . . It doesn't add up. The carfax shows a significant service at 109k before it was traded in.
To me what is in direct question is all the suspension and brake components. If it needs new brakes/rotors/and suspension components, that all adds up to a pretty bill both parts and labor. Between 100-120k is usually when I replace all the front arms and do these things, so it makes sense. 11yr old car at 115k...

I'm considering getting this car, it's in my backyard, but I don't like it's been passed around. . . Makes me uncomfortable.

What do you guys think? Anyone have suggestions on getting some actual answers?
I'm sending my mechanic to check it out this week.
