Thumbs up New Blitz Dual timer DCIV with Modded RED LEDs *PICS*

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
cool, i've recently also modded the new Blitz Dual Timer DCIV to match audi's red ambient lighting.

Overview: the Blitz and other brands of turbo timers do not match our car's interiors. My mod takes the unit apart and using fine SMD soldering tools, resolder the LEDs to Red ones that match our Audis.

I also have modded greddy, defi and HKS timers to match Audi lighting. previous post here:
    Greddy timers modded red

This particular one is a combination turbo timer and Boost gauge all in one. Calculates how long to run the car based on boost pressure readings during your drive.

    Original color is Bluish White

Modded is a pure red exactly like audi's red ambient lighting

This mod takes about an hour to complete. If you ship one to me, the Blitz DCIV Dual mod costs $45 including parts and return priority shipping.

A brand new one modded and shipped to you will be $160. please email me for purchase details.

I also have two available for install if you are local to Los Angeles.

if you have any questions, feel free to post here or email me. Anything electrical.

How does the timer get boost readings? Would that work with the B6?

  9. #9
good question. its pretty much a electronic boost gauge. there is a vacuum hose that attaches to your intake manifold via t-tap.

the vacuum line travels to the timer's brain and the brain sends all the readings to the tiny thin display that you mount anywhere in the car.

I just install mine today but it is an older version. It is a DC2.
Look Great!!! It's been sitting in my closet for almost a year, lol.

I will connect the boost vacuum later next week.
I think I like this location since I don't smoke.

Sorry about image quality. I used my camera phone.

You did a great job Ansen.

    Thanks

How much would it be to have it installed? I have a 2000 Audi A6 2.7T Quattro, and I'm local.

    Hi Glenn,

Sent you an email in regards to your 2000 A6 install quote. Depending on placement and additional modification to trim and or lengthening of wiring. All work is soldered, wrapped, and is tidy. parts and labor gauranteed for as long as you own your car.

For local install, i'll need a week's advance notice to order the parts and mod the timers/boost gauge.

Hi, i could probably figure it out just like i've figured out many other electronics.

If im correct it, i will be alot harder as the display is a "indiglo" type display and not individual LEDs.

problem is i don't have one to test and modify.

Hey, it looks amazing and I can't wait to get mine, quick question... Where the hell should I mount it? lol, I want it to flow nicely and look stock, not stick out obnoxiously like it was "added on" afterward.

    Thanks

Its one of the most unobtrusive timer/boost gauge. let alone a turbo timer.

but since its less than a .75in thick you can stick it anywhere.

on your b6, i would recommend the trim piece right above the key ignition. this should give you a good view through the steering wheel depending on how you sit. Other places would be on top of the steering column or however imaginative you can be. :)

Ansen, can you run this in parallel with a mechanical boost gauge? this reads in MBar correct? i like seeing the vacuum and psi of my Megan gauge, but the idea of having it all in one sounds really appealing. i'm not sure what my current Greddy is reading off of now, but the time fluctuates so randomly, not even based on RPMS most of the time.

Yup! you can run them in parallel. in fact it displays in vacuum as well. the units are
    hkPa ~ bar so 14.7psi = 1 bar.

one advantage to a digital guage with peak hold and warning is you can monitor the boost pressure to 2 decimal places versus a mechanical gauge.

1.20 bar versus 1.11 bar in similar conditions could indicate a boost leak. hard to tell with a mechanical. running logs would also be more accurate.

This timer bases timer run time by boost pressure so the harder you run, the longer it adds to the countdown.

I have one left for tomorrow's install. pat has dibs but hasn't confirmed. email me to be next on the list. cool!
