    Best tune for b7 a4?

Hi everyone, ive been doing tons of research and still not sure which tuning company to go with. A local shop says to go with united motorsports and i almost did it but decided to think more about it. Now i really want to go with integrated engineering but again not sure. I'd like to get as much hp as possible with upgrading only the software, hpfp, injectors, coil packs. So maybe 300hp.. Not sure if that qualifies for stage 3 or not. I cant afford to get a big turbo yet. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

alot of members have gone with JHM stage 1 or 2. They say the is the most up to date tune tune vs the others. I happen to have a deal on the tune for sale https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...HM-tune-credit

    Look into GIAC.

BTW, you aren’t coming near 300 HP without a turbo upgrade. No ECU tune is going to give you 100 more CHP. A K04 with a tune, injectors and all the other supporting mods will get you 320-350 CHP.

You're looking for what is typically referred to as a stage 2+ tune with those mods. I did some math and I figure I'm roughly stage 13.74 give or take 9% or so... I would recommend JHM or GIAC.

I like math. That's a pretty good stage.

What you want to do? daily drive ? short drive? long drive?

in most cases, not all of them :

stage 1 : flash tune only (software)
stage 2 : flash tune and some hardware. In most case those are exchaust, intake and diverter valve
stage 2+ : flash tune and more hardware: injectors, hpfp
stage 3 : New turbo and more hardware as you wish.

Unitronic offers a stage 2 HPFP, but for reliability and a daily drive fun, I think stage 2 is the ''balanced'' option.

This is right. I was at stage 2 with my last a4 and while it was not as fast as I wanted it, the supporting mods to get
More just didn’t make sense at the time. Hpfp 1000$, intercooler upgrade, 300-800$, injectors 1000$
For an extra 40hp? No thanks.
This was back in 2015 so some parts have come down.

I’ve got a spare hpfp sitting in the garage for upgraded internals. Now that these cars are showing up at the pick your part wreckers I feel a little more comfortable diving in further

Overdose you are all over the place, you don't need anything more than a stock DV for stage 2 and you definitely don't need injectors for 2+

"Stages" are just odd ways of selling you options until you pony up and upgrade the turbo/engine.

Some allow different octane fuels, some delete your O2 sensor reading for cat delete, some up the HPFP demand.

The ECU tuning world is opening up a lot more, I have a "stage 1" that i did for about half the cost of any big name box tune, fully supported with road tuning logs and updates as needed, leaving me pretty excited for a turbo upgrade in the future.

+1, b7 cost a ton to get them fast.

My wife's suv is faster even stock.

Its not a surprise to see a ton of golf R on the road. somewhat reliable, practical and fast, very fast.
6mt 4motion sportwagon is also a very nice choice, putting a is20 turbo and a tune, 301hp and 310lb . Parts to get those numbers cheap. 500-700$ a is20 is easy to find.

Who has GIAC's hpfp tune? I'm looking for feedback myself but can only find their standard stg1 tune info.

Hey awesome input. Looks like I'm going with united motorsports , basically its $750 for a fully loaded tune. Its a custom "stage 2" tune with launch control and all kinds of different settings. The tuning garage wanted $7500 to do a full big turbo build without any engine internal upgrades. So ill do that someday. Maybe in a year or 2. Meanwhile i should be shooting flames from the straight pipes with this launch control. Lol

Best tune? Hah! You're going to get a LOT of opinions on this.

I'm going with United Motorsports. There is a logistical aspect to picking a tune, most tunes aren't Flash Yourself. IE is, and I tuned my Q5 with their tune in the street outside my house. It was super easy. I also tuned my buddy's B8.5 Allroad and, again, it was super easy. Their B8 tune was seamless, you couldn't tell the Q5 wasn't factory tuned, it was just a good deal quicker.

I'm going with UM for my b7 because I have plans for K04 or Big Turbo down the line and their tunes are both REALLY well regarded, and there is a solid upgrade path. And a VERY highly respected tuning shop (AMD) is local to me and a rep for them so its an easy choice.

best tune in car world for me would be :
    - best performance VS reliability
    - Best price VS what is above.
    - Best support.

But all depend on what OP do with his car. Best tune for track wont be the same as daily drive.

Anyway, on this platform, most popular flash tune will do just fine.

I went unitronic because it was the cheapest, the most conservative one and those guys got a ton of tuning experience. Tune update are also very cheap.

Sorry, but BDT isn't in the same league, lol. Unless ya just want the novelties(2step, etc).. Even though this thread is 3 yrs old. And didn't even see anything tune related. Theyre talking about lowering, and not much else...

You don't have to get two-step and crackles. I was just sharing a video I saw.. why are you hating on BDT so much? I just read through the posts again and found a bunch of things about tunes. 034 about a 91 octane file, JHM obviously, even United Motorsports.
