Hi guys; I知 doing some valve work, just picked up a b7 2.0 with a ripped belt, pulled the head off, hot tanked the head, wire wheel on the valves, and now I知 currently lapping/grinding them to seat them correctly, this is my first time doing this rather than just sending my head to a shop, I have a lot of free time and decided to just go ahead and tackle it,

After I got everything cleaned up, and obviously trashed the 2 valves that were bent, I知 trying to put the valves in, and some of them slide in smoothly, some do not, I was just wondering what could be the issue, if this is even an issue.. they get pretty stuck to the point of where I have to tap them out with a rubber mallet.. but seating them still worked fairly well, what could I do differently or is this fine as long as the valves open after I install all the springs/rockers and turn crank, I tried labeling them just so i know where they were before but ended up wire wheeling off all the sharpie labeled valves, lol

Polishing the valve guides helps alot, be sure there is no debris in the guides also

If any other valves are slightly bent, you will feel them getting grabby. I wouldn't be surprised if you had more bent valves besides 1 cylinder. At TDC on my BPY 1 set is open and another partially open. I'd check all the valves and guides closely. I have a good set of new intake valves. If you need them, message me.
