    Oil Flush BG105/Liquid Moly

    Hey guys,

I’m at 47k miles and about to do a 5k oil change as a preventive measure against the dreaded oil screen/turbo oil starvation issue. I’m in a 2016 S7 and I’m feeling nervous.....

I know a few people are doing an oil flush using BG or Liquid Moly products, but my local indy has warned that it can cause more issues in an engine with my miles, as it can dislodge a lot of gunk - and may even cause a bigger issue if that gunk gets caught in the turbo oil screens.

(Oil change will be via sump plug, not vacuumed)

Does anyone have a view on this, or a bad experience post oil flushing on the 4.0TT?

    Cheers,
    John.

There is a warning from the EPR 109 Mfr. (BG) about this: http://www.bgprod.dk/wp-content/uplo...8/109_SPEC.pdf

"For 7-9 quart (6.6–8.5 liter) capacity crankcase:

Add two 11 oz. (325 mL) cans BG EPR® to crankcase. Start engine, bring to full operating temperature and run engine for 20 minutes at 1,200 RPM.

Shut off engine, drain oil and remove old oil filter.

Install new filter, replace drain plug, and fill with new oil.

Do not use on badly sludged engines!"

I was worried about the same thing.
I did the epr flush at 70k then a few k miles later did the screen replacement. The old screen looked almost new according to the tech. Obviously he still changed it out to the new screen though. May be worth changing the oil and filter after 500 miles though just for peace of mind.

    Thanks Guys

Are you recommending BG109 (EPR) rather than BG105 (Oil Flush) as part of the oil change procedure?

Well I ended up using the BG EPR Flush, followed by a fill with cheap synthetic oil and a 20 minute idle run, then drained and filter change and fill with quality fully synthetic oil.

1st oil out with BG Flush was very black (this was a 5k oil change) There was no metallic debris on the sump plug.
2nd oil out was darker than it went in, but not by much. Mechanic reckoned it was the left over oil in the filter mixed in with the clean stuff.

Engine felt much more responsive afterwards.

For the extra $30 (10 litres cheap oil and 2x cans of BG EPR) it felt like a worthwhile exercise.

    Time will tell......

You used two cans for a single flush (as stated by BG)?

Yes, two cans of BG used as the oil capacity is over 8 litres.
