If it's the motor, I'd say it's easier to just replace the motor, with one from the junkyard. Is easy to tell if it's just the motor and not the track, unlike my issue I'm having right now.

From the research I've done today, it sounds like it would be the window regulator that is going out.

It's pretty easy to do, and there's a good diy on here. These regulators are a common fail point so you will probably need to do the passenger and backs at some point. Shop costs will add up quickly with these cars.

Mine too. I removed it to repair it almost 2 years ago and hope to get to it soon. Yeah, there's a lot of stuff that comes up at the 100-150k range.

you can get a generic replacement regulator on amazon for about $30 and install it in your driveway in an hour. It is a very easy job. You'll need a torx 45 which is bigger than found in most basic torx sets but other than that it's just basic tools. I have used these cheap regulators through ownership of two b6s and have found them to last about ~2 years before going bad which is long enough for me.

when separating the window frame from the door peel the weather stripping off the window frame (it snaps into a groove kind of) rather than around the frame of the door so you don't have to worry about breaking a bunch of bullshit plastic clips.

Do not remove the zip-tie that is holding the gear in the regulator (blue thing) until you have the assembly inside the door ready to be snapped into place. If that gear works its way out of the blue thing it's done for.

Just went thru this a few times as my b6 has 242k on it.

    1. Check faults codes to door motor module in Cental Conv -46.

    2. Confirm both master and door window switches work with vag com Central Conv -46 group 11 or 12 iirc.

    3. Remove door module motor and move glass up and down by hand confirm any noises or broken parts I.e. frayed cable.

    4. Check door jam wires (drivers side often are cut)

In my case I had a bad regulator on pass side, a cut wire on drivers side and a bad motor module on drivers rear!

    Amazon regulator $27
    Ebay used Audi Module $22
Fixed door wires - 1 hour!
