That's cool. Thanks. I am sure this question has been asked and may be a loaded one, but is there a reliable way to adjust for DA or is that pointless?

There are a few ways to adjust for DA. There is the virtual method where you can use on line calculators that give you a estimate of what your time may have been in a different DA or you can physically compensate by adding more boost (higher PR) and cooling (like Meth or KC) to your vehicle. Either way the 1/4 list that Banjan01 just linked is all raw data from the run and the person reading that data can take from it what they want based on the numbers. Knowing the DA at the time of the run is as important as knowing the trap and ET. But just like the old saying "There is no replacement for displacement" there is no true way to fully compensate for bad DA. All vehicles suffer in bad DA including NA, NX , and Forced induction engines.

Great day at the track i was hoping to get a little deeper into the 11s after I ran the 11.9 earlier this season. This time I had a Slightly better DA and a altered TCU tune shifting at 7400 in Sport (THANKS Berk!) and a upgraded HX Pump. I will have to compare the logs and see how they look but regardless the Q was running very very good. There was no weight taken out of my Q so other then being on a 1/4 tank she was in full porker mode.

Thanks Pete ! I am starting to get an itch to try a race gas run. The only thing that could better that 11.76 with my 93 file would be better DA or a very well prepped track where I could turn up the launch RPM. Right now it's right on the edge of losing traction. On a few runs it spun just a touch on the initial hit but caught traction before turning into anything bad. I just have to think about the logistics of getting the 104 in, getting the 104 tune loaded and hitting the track with 1/4 tank and then getting home with enough fuel to flash it back at my APR dealer. Of course they do sell race gas at the track but sometimes crap happens and you can't count on that like they close up before the track closes which is typically the case.

Me and jonnybravoQ5 are talking about making this happen. He wants to take his Q to the track as well.

Keep up the progress. I'm still struggling to break into 11s. 12.0-12.1 is the best I can do. Full weight, heavy 20" stock rims, but no excuses. It is what it is. DA is still +1300 here. Maybe I'll do better when it gets close to 0 and then goes negative.

I'd be very interesting in seeing your 104 results.

Somewhat disappointed as I thought it would be an easy 12. Today was my first time at the track with this car and only got one run in due to constant breakdowns and I couldn't stay the whole time.

I posted your slip up for you to make it easier on people. Yes your time is a bit low but your MPH is very low even for a STg1 car, it should be at least 110mph. But good for you for getting out there and sending it ! For me this is way more fun then going to a dyno.

Couple of questions, did you engage AMAX (launch mode). While you were sitting and waiting was the vehicle running the whole time ? SQ5_quarter_mile.jpg

Yes the shifts definitely felt like AMAX. Once I staged I held the brake and floored the gas pedal then backed off it but not sure what RPM I actually launched. Engine was off for about 15 minutes in the staging lanes. Went around the water box, no burnout attempt. I'll pull the video off my dashcam tomorrow.

Your throttle pedal and brake pedal must both be on the floor. Rpm should settle and hold at about 2,600-2,800 or so with pedal still floored. Lift only the brake to launch. Keep the gas pedal floored. You never let up on the gas pedal until after you clear the end of the quarter. You also must be in sport mode and esc turned off for AMAX to activate.

That's a good beginning. Get the AMAX launch right and your times are likely to be a full .5 seconds quicker and at least 5 mph higher trap. You may have heat soaked in the staging lanes.

My Q is # 301 Right lane. Not sure if I will try and best that or not this season. This was full weight so I always have that wild card to pull out yet LOL ! No back seats and a - 1000 DA could definitely improve this number unless it throws me into the world of traction issues which is always a possibility.

So I little story about how I ended up going down this Rabbit hole.... LOL ! A few years back BG SQ5 sent me a PM saying he saw me looking for a TCU tune and he could help me out with that. I got his tune paired it with my APR STG 1 and bought a Dragy device. I cut a 3.94 0-60 , screen shot it and sent it to him. He replied " Thats a great time YOU MAY HAVE THE STG 1 RECORD... Thats what did me in. I never bought a Q5 with the intent to drag race it. It just sort of happened that way LOL ! Its been a blast this season and I'm going to retire the big girl from the track until next years Boost Season rolls around. I believe Cecil is opened for one last time next Saturday but I won't be there.

Very impressive! Knocking on the door for 10s! Are you still on your stock motor mounts? Any plans for upgrades during the off season?

Thanks ! The old rule of thumb is one tenth for every 100lbs. I went from a 11.48 to a 11.29 after taking roughly 200lbs out of the car. I didn't plan on doing that this year but after seeing where the 100 octane file put me i couldn't resist trying for a 11.3. It worked as advertised !

    Great run!

I think that you can drop another 1.5-2 tenths by getting that 60’ down to or under 1.6s.

Thanks Jeremy. That was actually my very best 60 ft of the day and I nailed it by taking advantage of the Heat in the tires from the previous run by hot lapping it. That 60ft game is one that I have yet to master. I definitely have much respect for you guys cutting low 1.6 or less 60 ft times. I also had the PSI dropped all the way to 25psi today which was working very well to give me a consistent low 1.7s. Perhaps a larger crank pulley and a 104 file may aid in forcing the big girl out of the hole a little faster

Fantastic time and trap! Even if the track closes, you could try a Dragy run in highly negative DA for "shits and giggles". I'll bet you can get very close to 10 if you can keep from spinning. You and BG SQ5 have a perfect dial in for the 100 octane file.

You are the single pulley record holder, for sure. Congrats!

Thanks Pete , once this last bit of 100 is gobbled up im going to swap back to the 93 file. Now if I find a good road I may try to see if I can improve on the 11.76 time with a nice negative DA. I have found one road by me so far that a OK place for a dragy run but its not ideal.

I see the 1/4 mile list has been updated. Can someone explain the ranking system? Starting at 4, there are co-rankings. Just curious to the method.

    The Q5/SQ5 1/4 Mile List

If you remove all of a certain vehicles slower times there would be no spaces in the ranking system. The jumps are due to certain vehicles having multiple times with the idea to see where those vehicles have come from. Ranking is simply based off of the fastest time for each vehicle.

Additionally, most of the top guys have many runs that they don’t report as it would simply clutter up the list. Last Friday I ran, 11.266s followed by 11.250s but didn’t report it as I have had a ton of 11.2**s runs over the past year.

My last trip to the track was nothing but disappointment so I had to go back. Today was opening day at MIR. It's an hour drive and the heat soak was too bad for the first two runs. After the second run I got called to the tower and it turns out there was a second car with 119 on it so they gave me an X. I skipped the third session to let the car cool down. I didn't expect it to be hours in between, but it was probably for the best. I nailed a good light and got in the 12s! Could probably go faster, but we all say that I guess. The slips all say March 8 which is tomorrow, whoops. Chalk it up to opening weekend.

I will be there tomorrow for a rental, hoping we get that great -neg D/A and we can see another 11.0 pass out of my Sq5, fuel really wakes these cars up going from 93 to 104.
