Loving all the 11 sec results! The list is updated and starting to look pretty damn respectable. ALL other performance SUVs should be on notice

MAJOR props to @BrandonG84 for putting his build together in a short period of time and going out and getting these sort of results right out of the gate! He made all the right decisions and put a lot of effort in to have it all come together like it did. Congrats!!

I always thought the Qs should be maybe .3 - .4 off of the S4s/S5s if somebody really pushed it. You guys are finally there. Also nice to see it's just a plain vanilla APR Ultra Race Gas file that's a couple of years old. No need to reinvent the wheel here.

Kudos to BG_SQ5 for sharing his ZF8 experience - you are making cars fly now!
Knowing Brandon's results with the stock trans tune and the expected track conditions, this one kind of felt like selling my soul, lol. Seriously though- it was pleasure to be a part of, and I'm super happy to see the record pushed lower. It's also nice to have someone further solidify my results that some cant seem to make sense of or like to attribute to a fluke motor or something.

FWIW- I'm going to try to get out one more time this year, and I'll be removing the seats and junk in the trunk for the 1st time myself. I think full weight 10s might be possible with ALL the trimmings and a lightweight drag radial setup in similar track conditions to what Brandon had, but that's a stretch. Once you're low 11s, I think it makes more sense to just go low as possible and then think about adding weight back vs. going out and coming up just short and maybe not getting a similar opportunity again.

You certainly sold your soul for the cause! I know with certainty these times would’ve never happened without the countless hours of R&D you spent to understand what was needed to unlock the full potential of the ZF. It came down to the wire with 11th hour tuning and I appreciate your patience and help.

I can’t wait to get together next year and get our SQV’s into the 10’s. I hope you get out next weekend and make it happen.

You guys are breathtakingly close to 10s. It’s fun to sit on the sidelines and watch. My results pale in comparison as I am limited to 93 pump gas, no ethanol.

I look forward to seeing who will hit 10s first and who will soon top that number. Competition is a good thing. Exciting!

It’s amazing the potential of this engine and transmission combo with just bolt-on mods and tunes on a 4300-4400 pound SUV!

Update, I figured out I was shifting right as I crossed the line @ 111mph so I went over to Manual where BG had it shifting @ 7200 instead of 7K in S. That helped my MPH and ET. I beat the shit out of my fat girl and she just took it... I have enough time slips to fill a My Pillow ! I love these Q5s.

Shout out to Berk (BG SQ5) for writing a bad ass TCU Tune and answering all my questions.

Honestly most of the cars I lined up against were 11 sec or faster cars so I spent most of the day getting my ass handed to me. My only other really fun race I lined up against a new GT 350 Mustang on small tire slicks but he spun out of the hole , so I jumped out on him and started celebrating, as soon as he hooked up he proceeded to drag the living bejeezus out of me. That was fun for the 6 or so sec it lasted before he hooked. Man does that Ford flat plain crank sound good !! Got to be one of the best sounding V8s out there.

i had to edit because I ordered a MercRacing HX so no APR CPS and at least a APR 187 Crank pulley but the dark forces all around me are trying to convince me to go DP. "What's one more tiny 57mm pulley" they say..... ”Just give it a try” they say..... ”you already have the front end off" they say LOL ! The struggle is real.

For those following the B9 platform here are some numbers to compare. I cannot get under 12.602 with my wheel set-up. My new 20's will make a big difference i bet! JB4 has some hiccups every now and at top end of 4th. Sometimes have fuel cutoff issues and misfires. Until full ecu/tcu tunes are are fully R&D I am very impressed with the output from JB4 piggyback.

Here’s my pass from FixxFest back in November...I’m working on some other things for the SQ and hoping for another cold front. My negative DA evening got rained out last week.

Bajan01, was that a S7 next to you or a RS ? I can't believe you managed to contain your excitement as you hung with him down most of the track. I was hanging with a 10sec Mustang in one of my runs until he hooked and smoked me but that didn't stop me from loudly (and prematurely) celebrating and ruining the audio of my video.

RS7. Yeah I was concentrating on Dragy video, datalogging etc that I didn’t even realize what was next to me until after the run. I think that I was ahead up to the 1000’ point but then he took me at the end. Since that run back in November I’ve been working on a few things to get down to the low 11s...that’s my goal anyway.

Well done! What a difference a year makes...MAJOR improvement over your EPL setup from last year. Out of curiosity- why do you white out the car number??

Thanks man. Yes a lot of changes over the past year including 2 different tuners since switching from EPL. My SQ has more in her once I can figure out these Nittos...perhaps I just need to make the jump to a set of Hoosier slicks? I’m down if you are.

...I only removed the number as it was the last of my social. I have been using a different number since and I’ll stick with that number unless the track designates a specific number (like OSW does).

    BG SQ5 soooo close!!!

It seems like the wheels/DRs were a little bit of a disappointment? It doesn't seem like it bought you that much over your previous best, especially since the DAs were better for these runs. Any plans for next steps? I think it may be time for porting and Ultracharger.

Banjan01 also sooo close! Is your current custom tune by a major player? Also can you comment on the differences between EPL and IE? IE is known for putting down some power and I was wondering how much it helped your progress.

It's really tough to say as far as the wheel/tire setup at this time. I tend think my 11.10 at -700 DA and on the 21s was equally as impressive. However, the new setup was WAY more consistent (all five of those 11.01-11.03s were in a row with no wasted runs in-between!), but this was my first time at this particular track as well. Maybe their prep was just that much better. I'm working on a more comprehensive post with additional details and future plans in my dedicated thread though.

@bajan01- I told you I didn't think the NT555Rs were worth it for you based on your 60' times, and rather I'd look to a dedicated track only setup on a small wheel! I'm done buying wheel/tire setups for my car though, lol. I've got every occasion covered with my current 4 setups.

My 60’ times were actually worse with the NT555R rubber than the PS4S rubber so I’m missing a bit of time there. I just can’t seem to get heat into the Nittos. I can feel them slipping around on launch even after the burnout (skipping the water box). Maybe I need to do a second burnout.

My custom tune isn’t one of the “big” vendors. I’ll come clean with the tuner once we get a bit lower on the ET.

As far as the difference between EPL and IE, after switching to IE I gained just over 0.5s, going from 12.033s to 11.502s. However that’s not quite comparing apples to apples as I bumped up from the 194mm to the 203mm crank ring and that 12.033s pass was in 2147’ DA vs 731’ DA with IE. My 11.161s pass (no longer IE) was at a slightly lower DA (467’) but on a track notorious for bad prep so I know that there is more time to be made there on the 60’. To compare, my best 60’ at OSW (Orlando) is 1.576s on PS4S rubber and my best at PBIR on NT555R rubber is 1.582s...essentially the same but the Nittos should be giving me a lot more. OSW is known to have great prep so I’m probably going to have to make that trip for my next shot at the record.

Yeah I know...but I had to try something. One would think that a treadwear rating of 100 vs 220 would give better results but clearly not. I’ll head up to Orlando in the fall once the temps cool back down.

I am documenting all this over on my build thread so most of you have seen those recent posts and know my problems. Just to recap, definitely having IAT issues in 4th near the end of the run (bypass opens up) and my AMAX seems to be a bit wonky as I am not getting the initial acceleration one would expect. I appreciate all those who have given feedback on my thread to help clue me in on what I can do to improve.
