Good deal or bad deal on RS7

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Everyone,

I’m looking at a 2017 RS7 prestige. The dealer is asking 74k. Has all options you can think of, expect The bang Audio system. Not carbon fiber either. Only has 20k on it and comes with CPO for another year. Is that a fair price?

Assuming it is in good cosmetic and mechanical condition, that sounds fair. Wouldn’t say it’s a “good” or “bad” deal, but fair

I bought mine in October, and - in general, YMMV - dealers have caught up to the fact that RS7s are cult cars, hold their value, and that the lightly used C7s are the only affordable way to get into one w/o worrying about a grenaded engine.

2017 fairly optioned out, low-mileage, Certified RS7. Enough said.

If they took it in on trade, they are into it for probably $65k. CPO Costs them $1-2k. $74k is fair market price and they know they can hold out to get it.

Not sure which one you are looking at... My car is the 2017 Performance (22k miles, 20 months left on factory warranty) (in service date 10/2017) with a sticker of 148K...purchased first week of February, this year. From a NH dealer... asking price at the time was 78,995.00. Lease end on my 2017 SQ5 left me with 2500 equity, I paid 72500.00 with my lease turn in... another 2800.00 for the Allstate premium warranty (good until Feb. 2025, 122k miles), 895 wheel/tire warranty (already used twice... dam Boston pot holes!!!) 3.99 rate to borrow 70K for 6 years...

If you are looking at the white one on the Cape, (some nice options... I love the comfort seats) notice that it is missing the rear package tray and some one has tinted out the corner marking lights. This may not pass state inspection (supposed to be amber), and have the window tint checked as well... (35%). End of year purchase may work in your favor... hit them with 69K out the door and go from there... Good Luck!!!
Family comes First!.... Nice cars a close second.

For topless Summer fun... 2013 Volcano Red S5 Cabriolet Prestige, Black Optics Grill, Rear Valance, Tint, IE Down Pipes... SOLD!

Semi-Daily Driver: 2016 A8L, Glacier White... Where to begin with the mods??? SOLD!

In theory, offering them less should work. OP mentioned the dealer would not budge $500. This dealer is willing to hold out - whether because they need to meet their margins, or they know they can get it if they wait, maybe both.

Sounds like you got a fairly good deal on yours. Also depends on your dealers margins, but most importantly, you offered them a trade-in. That’s music to their ears, as well as yours, making out $2500 (win, win).

Many factors go into it for both the dealer and buyer.

since this isnt his FS thread, maybe i can post my feelings on his asking price.....which is absurd.

book value for that car being mid $60's? nope. $45k.
maintenance completed as a point for upselling? nope. routine maintenance is only able to allow you to get fair value, not mark it up.

mods, add little to no value. cut the total price of the mods by 25%, maybe that is what you can ask for above fair value.

and most the pictures being taken at the track? doesnt make the car seem like it hasnt been abused.
2017 RS7 | Daytona gray pearl | DS1 | Mike's downpipes (catted) | Milltek non-res exhaust | SRM intake | AK racing lowering module | VS forged VS16 wheels | JHM turbo filter relocation | Blackout badges | Color matched side reflectors | Cquartz ceramic coating | 20% tint |

100% spot on. Also not knowing specifics about that red RS7 - really don’t need to - this goes for any vehicle with mods or maintenance. Highest optioned out RS7 Performance is valued at $57k, which again, never includes maintenance costs - just better piece-of-mind for the buyer.

If I buy a car with mods, 99% of the time I know the car has been pushed through it’s paces, often. I wouldn’t say it’s abused by that or going to the track, but still not in good taste to show track pics in a listing.

Better off parting it out and selling the wheels and exhaust separate if you want to get that much money out of it.

I would make an offer of $70K, and give them just a few minutes to counter.

Then move on, there are other cars out there. Isn't buying cars fun.....not. It is the worst thing I ever deal with.

Sounds like a bad deal to me. I both my 2017 RS7 performance, with 10,000 miles on it and tons of options including the akra titanium exhaust and B&O, for $82k 14 months ago. Sticker $147k.

Mine was not CPO so I can't speak to the value that adds in terms of $$$.

Lol take a look at this then... I was offered 52-55k trade in by 5 dealerships as well.

Some people at places I have posted this car for sale have been trying to give me a hard time about the pricing of the vehicle. I will say that I am fully aware of the listed price and everything that stands behind it and won’t tolerate anybody trying to devalue it. If anybody does not have any intention of purchasing this vehicle or the parts I have for sale off it, please refrain from trying to add unnecessary commentary and move along. It is a waste of everyone’s time to stress over someone else’s property that you have 0 intention of buying.

And since I’m here, I’ll address those concerns even though you’re not an interested buyer. What modified car have you ever seen and not expected it to have been used for its intention, especially being a high performance model? You can sit here and assume that the car was “abused” all you want, but that’s not going to make it true. Those pictures were taken at Pocono Raceway where I went for the MPACT festival and Racemotive event that I was at with 6 other friends all with Audis/BMWs to watch them race and also to hang out for the weekend around the car scene. I didn’t run my car due to the high elevation and high ambient temp which resulted in an extremely high DA of 7,000ft+, no point. Happy now?

Even if the car was “abused”, anybody who knows these cars know that they can take it, especially if supporting mods and preventative maintenance have been done, which is exactly my case. They’re not fragile and brittle like BMWs or AMGs. People have taken these cars well over 900WHP and they’ve proven to be very safe and reliable other than breaking axles upon launch which would be the least of worries due to replacement being very cheap and easy.

As far as the mods go, I can’t stand when people make a blanket statement saying “they don’t add value”. They may not be worth it to you especially since you’re not even interested in the car, but for someone that would actually be interested in the car and would plan to do those mods in the future it’s 100% worth it. Saves a lot of time, effort, and money. Just because others who are desperate to sell their cars or just don’t care about the money they pissed away are getting rid of their modified cars for barely anything over retail doesn’t mean I’ll do the same. I’m not in a rush to sell the car and I won’t even sell it to just anybody. I’d rather have it go to an enthusiast that will appreciate the car and take care of it, than just someone who’s not gonna care about it at all. I take too much pride in the things I’ve put a lot of time, effort, and money into.

So point is... you might not see the value in my car, but I have at least 4 people showing serious interest and have made good offers. It’s just up to them and their personal situations if they want to go through with it.

FYI: the car is being sold at $68,000 OBO WITHOUT the HREs and Akrapovic. If someone wants to pay me extra money for them, perfect. If not, I can sell them on my own. But until someone else makes that decision, I don’t see any reason to take them off the car when I’m still driving it and enjoying it.

I just to clearing the air, this post was not about your car. It was about a car I was looking for at a local dealer.

I know some (including klaidigaci) may already know that but I just want to publicly make that clear. This post was not in any way to bash him, his car or sale.

Ps @ klaidigaci I’m still waiting for those photos lol

id suggest you take the $55k trade in.
NADA is notorious for providing incorrectly high estimates, which is reinforced by your trade in offer of nearly 10k less than what NADA clean value is.

my MY17 RS7 with 28k miles has a trade value of $55k based on KBB, which is always assumed as high. hard to believe your older car with more than double the miles is worth the same.
    for apples to apples pricing...
NADA says my car (MY17 RS7 28k miles) trade in is $72k. we all know that's not true since dealer listing prices for a similar car is that, if not lower. no profit margin if that value was true.

I agree, mods dont make a car abused; My stage 2 car has a launch counter of 3. But pictures at a track certainly arent helping your case.

mods will add a little value, which is why your trade in offer is slightly above normal.

but if you go by the more relaiable KBB value of $49-55k private party value of your car, add in your $17.5k of mods....your asking more than MSRP for the mods.

    anyway, GLWS.

and for the OP, sorry for derailing, but there is some solid price points in this off topic post.
without knowing anything else about the car, and assuming excellent condition, $74k seems a little high. id say that car is priced about 10k more than it shoudl be.
If you really like that car and selection is limited, high 60s would be a reasonable goal. not insulting to the dealer, but not grossly overpaying.
