Possible B8.5 ROW Dynamic LED Tail light upgrade option?

    Via Aliexpress of course..

Might still need to buy one of those adapter cables via Ebay. Tempted to be the Guinea pig here.

Thoughts on why this might or might not work? Seems like a cheaper alternative to ordering them from the EU.

This isn't going to be plug and play. You will need to run separate turn and brake signals to the tail lights from somewhere. Our cars come with a shared signal wire. I built a set of driver side tail lights that are dynamic but unfortunately i broke the lenses when taking them apart. I'd be really interested in these if they could be wired up properly and are sequenced with more than 2 sections though.

I'm not an expert though, so if someone else has gotten this working I'd like to know how.

Here's a video of the inner light after i got the wiring done.

As a side note I've also been working on turn signal "switchback" DRLs. I found some LEDs I'm happy with, but i haven't gotten around to installing them.

Morimoto seems to have recently released a product that could make this a pretty easy mod.

Those boards are for reflector type DRLs and may not fit because of the way they need to fit. The universal light probably won't line up right in the driver.

There is a company that makes a board for the S4 I think though, talk to EMTuning in the UK. They have done a number of Audi lights including an RGBW DRL mod, so maybe there is a switchback option as well. Picture for reference.

Yeah the Morimoto kit may not be perfect, but the pcb should fit in the same place as the stock one for the DRL. I think it's a question of if the light output is enough, and whether it is diffused too much.

B8 drivers sells an RGB kit like this to. I was hoping to do the switchback using the wiring in the headlight to avoid any extra controllers or the need to replace the OEM PCB. Someone with more electronics experience than me would be able to build a pretty easy kit for this since our headlights already have the switchback function built in. All it would take is a harness that takes the OEM DRL signal and OEM turn signal to a dual LED PCB.

Yeah it's working, and they look bright enough. I'm still worried about how visible it will be in daylight, but the switchback function should help. I may leave the turn signal bulbs in place to begin with just to be safe. I will try to install them in my headlights this weekend, and I'll post a full thread after that.

I have a US car and live in Eu so i had to change and code my taillights. Got my hands on the taillights electric scheme and its pretty straight forward, the module is in the right side in the trunk.

Can you share any info on how you managed to do this?

I have the tail light wiring diagram, and attached it here. Is the module in the trunk the Comfort System Control Module? I guess you are saying you added this black and blue wire that is for the Rest of the World? Then maybe coding in VCDS will make that new wire the turn signal, and the gray wire will switch to brake light only? For some reason I thought the Comfort System module was behind the dash, so i thought this would be harder.

If that's the case i can get my dynamic lights working pretty quick. Also these Ali Express ones would probably work if you add in this wire and perform the coding for it.

Beautiful! This is why I love Audizine. Hopefully it’s that simple.
