Anyone running 21” Wheels with stock Pirellis?

Long story short I recently purchased my wife a 2014 RS7 for her (us) to daily drive and she is whining the ride is brutal even on the comfort setting. Could I have some lowering module I dont know about? It took me forever to find a clean RS7 with heavy options and I really don’t want to have to sell but don’t want to listen to her either anymore. Id drive it more but i put on 30,000 plus a year for work.

Could the stock Pirellis be the issue? I thought about maybe putting 20s on it with some contis maybe...

Its a 14 with 31,000 miles and MINT. $135k sticker.

Don’t think it’s the pirelli’s. It may be lowered or tire pressure too high. What does the tire PSI reading in the MMI show? What’s the measurement from the center wheel cap to the top wheel arch? It may be more obvious if you plug in a obd scanner like VCDS or obdeleven($50) and check the ride height values.

In the driver door there’s a sticker. Mine shows 45psi when it’s cold. After driving awhile it will go up so best to take the reading after start/ first stretch of driving.

I have the stock 21” pirelli tyres on my 2016 rs6, stock ride height, air suspension, the ride is very comfortable.

FWIW that is only the PSI for MAX load (4 passengers and stuff in the trunk)
If you are just 1 or 2 people and empty trunk then a partial loaded tire pressure setting would be better. It is located in your owners manual. Probably something closer to 42/40.
I wish we had the European style stickers which give full and partial load settings.

Well, besides all the factors you guys mentioned above, you need also consider what car is your wife comparing with. Compare to normal cars, even on conform mode, it is definitely stiff

On your application, 20" wheels with the corresponding correct tire size will definitely help as it'll give you an extra 1/2 inch of sidewall..

Looks stock height to me. Changing to 20s will help. The side walls are just too thin on 21s.

52 PSI is way too high. I find that somewhere around 40-42 (warmed up) is a much smoother ride. But as everyone said, the 21s aren't the best for comfort, especially if you have bumpy roads or any potholes.

I’m not so sure 20’s would be better, I run 20’s for my winter and it’s not better than my 21”.

protip: 39 cold when started flags tpms lights (which is odd since my 13 a6 could run to like 30) unlesss it was stored way higher previously so thats why it flagged the dash light

i bumped to 41 cold and stored em

38 PSI cold in my RS6 with 21" wheels.

Unless you're going to drive on the autobahn at really high speeds, you don't need high pressures.

I’d drop some pressure, I was running 38psi and the ride was very comfortable, but always felt like the rim was taking a lot of impact on big bumps. I took mine to 44 and can definitely notice the difference in ride harshness

You can store them at any PSI I think. Reason it triggered the light was because there was a big difference between the stored values (52 originally) and the new values, 39. You just need to re-store them.

Dropped to 38psi cold, car rides WAYYY better. Cant believe what 10psi does to tires and ride quality.
