Any one has fixed b6s sunroof switch issue?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My sunroof close it self. And sometimes it doesnít close. I know itís a switch but looks like the new one is pretty expensive.

So I fixed it 3 times before but after few weeks, it became like before.

Any body fixed the switch before?

Post a WTB in the classifieds? Not sure if the B7 switches are a direct swap or not but that might be an option as well.

Check the part number on yours and plug it into a google search. You may find one at someplace like Wolf for cheap: Clicky clickģ

    This^

I went through the "fix" multiple times and still couldn't stop the phantom from returning (lol). So I stumbled on a post where someone showed where the +05 switches went from the problematic style to a more robust electronic version that eliminated this "phantom sunroof issue".

The only problem I've noticed with running a B7 switch is that the sunroof won't stay open 100%, more like 75%. But I'm more than okay with this than worrying about my sunroof deciding to open in the middle of a rainstorm.

Edit: See post where the issue I was describing above is fixed, Clicky Click

I got one of the updated B6 switches several years ago and haven't had any issues with the sunroof opening or closing on its own since. I didn't even bother trying to fix it as most people that tried in the fix thread seemed to have the same issue a short time down the road and I didn't want to keep dealing with it.

How do you know if the switch is updated?

    Just a newer part number?

I've "fixed my switch multiple times as well and it always goes back to doing the same thing.

I guess I'll have to pull the switch and check the number and just buy a new one as well.

Yes, if there was a revision, when you search for the switch part number in a catalog online, it should say if it has been superceded.

From the thread I linked in my post above:

Sure enough, the switch from the 03 to 05 had been revised to an AÖ

looks like the part is roughly 85 dollars online for the Potentiometer Sunroof Switch, 8E0 959 613 A . a used B7 sunroof and dome light console is roughly 45-75 dollars online.

does anybody know if the Potentiometer itself cross references against newer Audi models? the thought is maybe we could purchase a A6 or A8 of a newer generation used and pull the part for a lower cost if available.

I believe the switch does cross reference to other models, looking up the PN shows it as fitting A4 and A6 models as well as models that share the platforms like S4/RS4/S6/RS6, etc. According to a4darkness:

This got me thinkin. So I started digging around using the part number from the new-to-me switch. ETKA was worthless so I had to hit a couple of Euro parts websites then cross referenced to ECS and back to GAP. Apparently this revised switch has been used in most every model. Once I discovered this, considering how many of us have problems with this switch, figured it would be worth a bit of searching around. Was pretty surprised to find this. Maybe I'm late to the party on this one but this seemed worthy of posting up... especially b/c a group of these start around $40 at GAP. Obviously the color of the interior will need to be matched to the switch but that shouldn't be too difficult since the interior colors are mostly the same if not very close

Just buy a used one from eBay for all of $40 and quit dealing with your switch. Fixed mine a few times like you did before I gave up on it. Best $40 I've spent on the car.
