    07 Convertible Inoperable

Hello All, First post here. First Audi coming to my stable tomorrow! Have been a BMW guy for years. Picking up an 07, 144K miles, very clean cab in the morning. Buying it cheap. The owner let the battery go flat over the winter and replaced it. Ever since, the top and windows do not work he says. All was working fine with the old battery. Any suggestions on where to start the diagnoses? I have been reading everything I can on the internet and youtube. I think I will start with a manual operation of the roof to attempt a reset. Currently the windows are down. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Do the reset by operating the top manually and make sure the compartment where the goes in to after its open is not blocked.

My guess the battery died the top wasn’t seated properly (closed or open position)

If that the case you should see the roof icon flashing in the dash.

If that didn’t help then check for water damage under the left seat.

    Good luck and enjoy !

Thanks so much for the help. I picked car up and trailered it home. So far I have done the manual top reset. Still no go. When I go to lower it after reset, I get the message in cluster, "soft top not operable" The flashing light does go out. Also, none of the windows are working. I have tried each individual switch and the master switch and still nothing. The trunk will not operate electrically either. I can open with the key inserted into lock. I have also tried the key in the drivers door to operate the windows. Nothing. . Something has really gone awry with this car after battery replacement. Will be checking fuses today for windows at least. I will be ordering VAGCOM and attempting to use that. Just don't want to go to dealer and get a huge estimate/bill. Since it was working last fall, I have to think it is some kind of a reset. Any help would be great.

It’s a symptoms of bad battery.
Have you started it ? I have seen this on the cab I got and after charging the battery, running / driving it all started to work.

I got a B6 cab with exact same symptoms after installing a healthy battery and drove it around, resetting The soft top and all worked.
Yes it’s weird but those cars go crazy when battery voltage drops.

Except for the windows which they were operable for me , @OP check your fuses, yes.

    Good luck

Gentlemen, Just drove it around all morning. Still no window operation at all. Need to check fuses. And top still not working. But, should probably do a manual reset again. And there are random interior lights staying on or not working at all. Grrrrrr!! I won't give up! Looking into VAGCOM software, but want it fixed now! Thinking I might have to get into the computer per Mr Huber suggestion.

Have you tested your battery ? Take it to any auto shop near you, it should be free of charge, and I have a feeling you have a busted conv module, have you checked for water damage ?

Don, Battery is basically brand new. I just tested it with my tester and all is good. It is also on the smart charger for safe keeping. It came up to charge in less than 5 minutes. I just went thru every fuse. Was hoping to find and errant bad one. No luck, all good. I am on a steep learning curve with this car and trying to locate all the weak spots. So, I have not checked the top module. Need to locate it. Doing a search now. Also, don't see any fuses or reference to power window fuse/fusible links. Just sat down to do a search on that as well. There is a common demoniator here. With so many electrical issues, I have to think there is something common to all of them. Will continue the hunt. Thanks for your help.

The comfort module is the common thing, may be busted. It’s located under the drivers side carpet LHD countries.
You need to use VCDS to scan and see as a first step.

So far, I am thinking the CCM. Going to a shop tomorrow to do a scan. I don't like "throwing" parts at a car hoping for the best. Plenty of CCM on *bay for cheap money. Just found the plastic cover for the ECM had the back half broken off and lot's of junk in there. This car looks clean, but starting to think it may have been not taken care of the way it should. Will keep this thread updated once I get more information for the diagnoses.

I think I found the problem

I think I may have found either the whole issue or at least a bunch of them...2" of water under carpet in foot well.

So now I am looking for a 8HO 959 433 J CCM. Nothing on eBay matching those exact numbers. Any help locating one would be appreciated. I am sure there is more to follow on this subject!

Went shopping on the big auction site-of course there is everything but what I want/need! But someone just posted and "L" code one that supposedly is the updated "J" version. Paid way more than I thought, but cheaper than that site you linked. New part will be here friday, will see how it goes and whether it solves my issues. Currently have a small heater going with the carpet pulled up. Will need the week to dry it out. Hope to find out where the water is coming from as well. Will be searching where the drains are tonight.

Checked it and everything was clear. There was a large hole where I assume a rubber grommet of some kind should be. Going to look for other spots.

Update-did some research and read that a CCM with the last letter in the part # L was just an updated version of my "J". Bought the one on Ebay, arrived in 2 days. Plugged it in, BANG! I have windows working, a convertible top that functions properly, interior lights, trunk latch works, etc etc! So pumped. Currently drying the foam out under the carpet and waiting for a new ECM cover. The one on the car had it's back part under the cowl blown out and a gaping hole to the interior of the car. If this car was driven in the rain or washed vigorously, water would poor into the car. So waiting on that piece currently.

Awesome! Thanks for the update; I was wondering how this would turn out.
