    Intake Insulation

New to this forum. Did a search and couldn't find anything on this subject. As anyone with a 2018 RS5 will tell you, they run HOT. The first time I touched the SS intake tube to the turbos I was shocked at how hot they were. With CAI being all the rage, it seems to me that some simple insulation on that tube alone would be a big help. Anyone done this? I was thinking that standard old header wrap would be good because you can easily work it around the attachment points of that tube. And, it's relatively cheap. On the other hand, I'm thinking if this is such a good idea, why didn't Audi do it? (I could probably come up with some answers to that!)

I think it's not installed because once the engine revs the airflow is too fast for any noticeable heating to happen.
(And the (R)S5 has a CAI!)
Then again, insulating the tube won't hurt anything, so go for it!
If you want the intake air to be cool, upgrade your intercooler. It's not at all adequate for our cars. Apparently it's a noticeable difference even on stock cars. Will be testing that out as soon as I can.

Thanks! I may go ahead and try it since the cost is minimal, as is the work

We used DEI Gold Heat Wrap in the track cars to help reduce temps.
