    Q: VAGCOM Coding Issue: 6MT Non-MMI S4

    So my B8.5 S4 came with everything I really wanted (MT, B&O, and that sweet supercharged six) and nothing extra 'cept panda interior, dig it but don't require it. I don't even get to set an individual drive mode.

    I was poking at my car's settings this afternoon, and wanting my car to always return to Dynamic Mode upon restart, I did this:

    Set ADS to specific preset Comfort, Auto, Dynamic or Individual
    [09 – Cent. Elect.][Security Access - 16]
    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 63
    Set to 01 - Comfort, 02 - Auto, 03 - Dynamic or 04 - Individual
    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 64
    Set to 01 - Comfort, 02 - Auto, 03 - Dynamic or 04 - Individual
    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 65
    Set to 01 - Comfort, 02 - Auto, 03 - Dynamic or 04 - Individual
    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 66
    Set to 01 - Comfort, 02 - Auto, 03 - Dynamic or 04 - Individual
    *Note all four channels needs to be set to the same value.

    Turns out for my car, without an individual mode, it wants numbers other than these (except for 63). Channel 64 had a number like 15. Channel 65 had a number like 218. Channel 66 had 0 in it.

    I, of course, was not disturbed enough by this glaring difference, and proceeded to set those channels per the above suggestion without noting the original values - cuz that is what I do. Now my car is permanently in Comfort mode. Urgh. Anyone out there know what these values are supposed to be for a car of mine's ilk so that I can get back to happy land and potentially how I can set the car to default to Dynamic? The first would be great, the second, gravy.

    TIA

    Thanks!!!

    Seems it will reset to Dynamic (it did this morning), but if I change the mode while driving, I am stuck until restart. Appreciate your help!

    It’s gonna be a day, but I will check. I failed to remember my car is at a friends because I was working in my daughters Subaru and drove that home when I ‘fixed’ it.

    Tomorrow or wed.

    So you can’t change the mode while driving? I thought the issue was just that you default to Comfort?

    More details: yesterday the car was displaying "Dynamic" but the mushy suspension and lazy throttle response belied that. I pushed the drive mode button a coupla times and it changed to "Comfort" and would not budge until I restarted the car. When restarted this morning, it displayed "Dynamic" again but the ride was mush and throttle lazy.

    At lunch today I set Channel 63 and 66 to 0 (the original values for these Channels). This restored the functionality of the drive mode button but now I have two more options (which do nothing AFAICT): Efficiency (only really useful for DSG) and Individual (I don't know where to set this given my car's feature set). But I have real Comfort, Auto, and Dynamic settings so I am 90% of the way there. Wondering what the values are that you have for Channels 64 and 65 as I don't recall exactly what mine were. These seem to be the ones that will drive the appropriate options/behavior for the drive modes after setting 63/66. Or so I think.

    I really appreciate your help, Ford.

    I wish I were helping! You seem to be getting it ironed out.

    I do not have suspension in my ads, I am only ADS light which is Steering and throttle. No individual settings either.

    Either way I was able to set the all the appropriate channels so it defaults to dynamic on start. I can change from there but since I don’t have suspension I never touch it.

    Hi Ford,

    Thanks for your attention to this, but I have the Sport Diff/Suspension which you have stated you don't have. I would guess that my settings would not be the same, given the unicorn-ish nature of my car (Sport Diff/Suspension but no MMI)....

    Thanks again, and feel free to add your input here, but it will likely be less useful for me than others!

    Regards,
