Hello guys, I was wondering if someone could help me out with this one.

My car has a rain/humidity sensor installed, part number 8UO 955 559 but no automatic headlights. The sensor is plugged into a harness which goes to the sunroof controls. I did not check for power.

My "auto" position on the wiper stalk does not work, and never has. It acts as regular, intermittent wipers.

I got a hold of a VCDS over the weekend and tried enabling it through long coding in 09-Central Elec.

Pressing the checkmark for the rain/light sensor generates an error both in VCDS and on the dashboard as I do not have automatic headlights. I did not try the sensor.

1 Fault Found:
01520 - Rain and Light Recognition Sensor (G397)
004 - No Signal/Communication
Then, I found coding for "Humidity sensor". The coding is accepted by VCDS but through an autoscan I get this

1 Fault Found:
00218 - Humidity Sensor (G355)
004 - No Signal/Communication
Would any of you VCDS gurus know what else I could try?

I'm almost thinking of buying the auto switch and a later revision Rain/light sensor and just put these in and see if they work, since the harness appears to be there.


Any thoughts?
