Anyone with 3.0T JHM ECU/TCU Tune?

Sorry if this has already been talked about but from what I saw on google there's only a couple threads about the JHM tune and it's for the C6. I'm wondering if anyone on the C7 3.0T has the JHM ECU/TCU tune and how they stack in comparison to IE & 034. Are they as reliable, and what's their relative performance against the other 2?

From the very limited number of cars that I have seen here with the JHM software. They seem to be just as quick as IE and 034.

Is there a particular reason there is such a limited amount of them? Are they new to the scene, or overshadowed by the popular brands? Unreliable?

If I am not mistaken, APR, DS1, IE, and 034 are the primary tunes for our 3.0. Listed alphabetically.

APR, as in understand, was in early, the others followed and they generally have flash at home options.

I did APR on my car after first oil change and now have a separate, custom TCU tune installed via HP tuner software and cable. Very happy with Set-up but could probably have done the same with a “packaged offering”.

Unless I've missed some developments, DS1 is not available for the 3.0T platform -- only 4.0T.

IE and 034 seem to be the only ones still (semi-?) 'actively' developing for the 3.0T platform (CREC, etc). APR seems to have more or less gone into maintenance phase.

We have been pushing them to publicly release the dual pulley files, a 75mm TB file, or any options for fueling upgrades to 'truly' support full E85, but their response has been that it's not worth their time and money for a platform that has such a small population. I assume this response will be the same as the other big tuners (034, APR, etc).

On the other hand, IE just released their upgraded hpfp insert for CTUB a few weeks ago, so it seems like they are still expanding on that front.

Ah, bummer to hear about IE. As for 034, I just heard back from them yesterday that they’re planning to offer E85/ethanol blend tunes after further testing. So, at least for the time being, someone is still carrying the torch. 👍

Does anyone have experience with the ECU tunes from JHM? They come in at a relatively low price point and don't charge for upgrades to higher stages. Just wondering if anyone is running them.

I was told the same by IE months back, they told me that they’ve moved on to B9 and 4.0T

TBH, I wouldn't bother chasing 10s with the 3.0T anyway. The car is pretty fat and obviously needs more power than an S4/S5 to accomplish the same thing. Since I don't want an S4 or an S5, it makes more sense to move to an A6 with a newer engine because it can make a lot of torque. It's a porky mid to low 13 luxury car that we are getting to run 11s without any major surgery. Anytime someone does a whole bunch of exhaust work it looks like they're in the world of diminishing returns. For changing some pulleys and flashing some software, this is a pretty awesome platform. My friends, with other luxury car brands, jaws drops when the see the gains I got with a simple flash.

I have a 3.0t JHM tune and i love it. Substantially better than stock.

However, i am planning to move to another platform once i start investing in upgrades. Mainly because i feel the tcu tune is a bit clunky at times.

That being said i havent had as much fun as my stage 1 in a while.

I’m only s1 because i havent invested in other parts and their entry price point got me sold

As someone with no interest in mixing ethanol for a daily driver, I'm very happy with my APR tune, but I had reached out to IE a while back to ask about whether they were still planning to release a solid coupler for the SC clutch and accompanying tune to fix the related check engine light and was told that neither was available, and that they were down to a single beta tester, and there were no additional developments planned. That was almost a year ago.

Not at all, this is all useful information on deciding where I want to go with my car. That is for the info, I didn't know this platform was starting to die out so good to know.

They’ve had a CREC tune available for a while but it always needed to be flashed at their location in socal, when did they start allowing flash at home? Their site still says “coming soon” but also implies it can be flashed with their cable depending on where you look so it’s a bit confusing

Well, I can confirm with 100% certainty that you can flash CREC ECU Stage 1/Stage 2 and TCU at home.

As to when they began allowing it, that I don’t know. At least as of Nov’22 is all I can attest to.

If you’ve already got a tune; then yea I’m not sure what switching would really do for you. I went with 034 for a few reasons: at home flashing (which APR doesn’t officially support), matching TCU tune (which, again, APR does not offer) and perceived “recent” development (APR considers this platform obsolete). I was a little bummed to find out that they inaccurately claim there are 100 and 104 octane maps available for CREC, which they confirmed to me was a misprint on the product page. However, they did tell me that there are plans to release the E85 map, so that works.

Good to know, I could not tell from your previous post whether you actually had the tune but you're obviously implying that you do and that you can in fact tune from home.

I like my JHM tune. I had an EPL tcu/ecu tune previously and the JHM was an upgrade.

That said, most of the numbers seem pretty close to each other, may as well go with what is cheaper. JHM has had excellent customer service too, I wish I would have went with them from the get go.

While we are airing our grievances with what we wish tuners would do, someone needs to make a tune that can switch between E-40 and 93 by itself using a cheap continental GM flex fuel sensor.

I know if I could get my shitty 95 miata with a megasquirt to do it 8 years ago, I know a tuner could make it happen. I don't want to screw with changing tunes, then have to measure out how much fuel/try to assess how much fuel was in the tank every fill up.
