    Wireless charger retrofit

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi Guys,

Does anybody know if it's possible to retrofit the wireless charger beneath the armrest?

And if so which part numbers are involved?

It's the one thing i miss in my RS6.

Do you mean a retrofit of the C8 application? That may be a bit tricky -- it's a different stowage compartment, module, etc.

Audi does make a Qi charger and case, though -- which is applicable for all generations, but it would be a DIY process to figure out where you wanted to put it.

I have Audi Phonebox in the S7, but without the Wireless charger. It sits under the central armrest - which is where the Q charger would also sit.

I did consider retro fitting it, however technology has moved on, and Fast Charging is the way forward (Android and Apple). The Audi kit does not support fast charging (or at least it didnít, and Iím not aware of it now supporting it.)

I also just missed the introduction or Car Play on my 4G MMI, which means I canít see Facebook Messenger or Whatsap on the MMI, only direct on the phone. Text messaging is so 20th century these days . There is also no MMI control for Spotify.

If you have CarPlay, donít you have to plug the phone into the car USB anyway to take advantage of it?

Iím not sure itís worth the Ä300 investment.

Iíve used Brodit holders in my cars for years, so can definately recommend using those, which also come with an integrated charger option (not wireless though)

There's a universal charging pad that Audi offers which clips into the cars which have the built in telephone connector in the armrest covered stowage area. There are two types, one that lists Qi standard is no longer available, but there is another which does not. If you did not have the telephony package it wouldn't be a quick fit as you would need to fit all of the other items to get the proper connector in the console.

    Cheers,
