S6 feels faster after break in

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I purchased the s6 new and I found the acceleration underwhelming in 2nd and 3rd gear. Now the car has 500 miles on it and it pulls noticeably harder in both gears to my surprise. I also have been driving the car with ESC off ( one click as required for lunch control activation)
The question is does Audi change engine parameters after couple hundred miles to limit performance for the break in period ?
I know M5s have something similar.
The difference Iím feeling is very noticeable. I was so underwhelmed with the car when I bought it, but things seem to have changed overnight.
Any insight on this is greatly appreciated.
The other question is could the engine response be sharper with the ECS off and thatís whatís causing the seat of the pants feeling Iím experiencing? Itís common for the traction control system to pull power back to prevent wheel spin (common in 2 wheel drive AMGs) .

ECU adaptation happens after a few hundred miles. You're really not supposed to be heavy on the throttle till after at least 1000 miles though.

Another possibility is lousy dealer filled it with regular 87 when it was delivered.

After owning several new Audi's I personally think they do enable something that limits full power based on milage.

My my16 S6 also had good days and bad days, stock and when tuned. Some days it just seemed to have less get up and go.

it couldn't be gas issues since im averaging about 12 miles per gallon. I do agree with you on good days and bad days though. i dont get consistent seat of the pasts torque feeling all the time. Im leaning more on traction control as the root cause.

    12 miles per gallon?

I regularly get 26 mpg around town and 30 on the motorway (freeway) - COD not usually on, as l drive in S mode most of the time.

Or led-foot. Took me a year of ownership to get over it and limit my 'disease' to romps here and there instead of all the time.

    Assuming that is imperial?
    26 mpg imp = 21 US mpg
    30 mpg imp = 25 US mpg

26mpg in city is impossible. i do have a led foot from 0-60 but going to highest possible gear there after. if i leave the car in D i get about 17mpg on city driving which is where it should be.

Yeah you're only getting 26mpg city if you're idling on a flatbed. Lol but maybe your city isn't like the major metropolitan cities I'm used to.

The 26mpg figure was imperial which is 21mpg US...... I couldn't get that in my S4 unless I had some highway driving mixed in there. My S6 is brand new with about 150 miles on it but even the DIC didn't get over 18mpg driving it super easy with a mix of city/hwy. I know that typically mileage gets better after break in but still....... 21mpg's city is dream land. If the gas over there has no ethanol, then maybe it's possible???? A number of years back when I still had my Hummer H2, my wife and I took a trip up into the Wisconsin north woods and I found that most of the stations had fuel with no ethanol, I went from 12.X mpg's up to 14.X mpg's (even got over 15mpg out of one tank). Percentage wise (around 20% better mileage), it's slightly possible but you'd have to be driving that S6 like a tree hugger in a Prius....LOL!!!!!!
