    Removed Cluster Now no Start

    2008 Convertible. 2.0T.

    I took out the cluster to get a dead bug out. Put everything together and now car starts then dies.

    Immobilizer issue. I'm not an expert, but in your disassembly, you might have damaged the immo chip.

    yup immobilizer active .. probably disconnecting it, it forgot what was supposed to be there.. unless you forgot to connect something back up

    The funny thing is I do not see the immo symbol when I try to start the car. No flashing keys.

    When I pull codes using VGCOM and go to the cluster module, I get a whole bunch of faults.

    make sure the Cluster plugs are fully seated and latched.

    Connections are good.

    I did the 10 minute trick. I hooked up a trickle charger, put the ignition to position 2 (a lights in the cluster come on) and left it there for 10 minutes.

    After that time, I disconnected the charger and starter the car up. Allís well now.
