Dude you should have went RWD and used a RWD trans. The LS is minimal 5 inches longer than a 4.2 V8 and look how close it sits to the rad. I've looked deep into the swap and came to the conclusion that keeping quattro is impossible. I'll be following cuz I wanna see how you pull this off.

    I'm aware of the size.

I know it won't fit flush and OEM like most people want these days.

I am aware that it will sit out a few inches into the core support.

Using LSX pulleys on the 5.3 will shorten it a bit. Also LSX water pump and oil pan

I am gonna try to run a aluminum halfie rad to see how it handles the cooling. If not find a way to run a full size.
The FMIC will be a different challenge.

One step closer to being out.
    Everything is disconnected/unpluged/removed.

Have a few things to put up on the ol'craigslist.

Would be out by now, but I'm hungry. So called it quits.

    Little update:

Pulled the 1.8 and sent it off to the heap.
    Wiring harness gone.
Most of the body harness is gone. Minus the blinkers/headlights and horn.

Washer bottle and ps stuff gone.

Cleaned the bay up. Grinded a few random things out.

Core support is being cut to allow 5.3 to stick through.
Stupid lower IC pipe takes a while to cut out.

    5.3 sitting infront.

Gonna order the writing and ecu asap. Have the mounts and adapter plate.

Did a little measuring "roughly: the 5.3 with the stock water pump is about 35in in length. Which would sit past the core support.

With out it is about 24ish which put it roughly at the support. LSX water pump is way smaller so I'll do that.

The Holly 302-2 is the "smallest" oil pan so I'll be doing that.

Holly intake and a holly TB to convert to drive by wire.

Yes it will be since, the motor is ahead of the axles , the 1.8t is pretty bad already because its not "on" the axles or behind it. Anyway keep us updated!

Just some advise on your pictures - could you make them one above the other, with a single space in between? It just makes them easier to view.

Its gonna be tight. Gonna a need to fab up a subframe. That's for sure.

Also I have no idea how to do that I upload it via the app.

Youíre a brave man, to mount an 01A 5-speed behind a torquey V8.

I would do it properly from the onset, rather than wait for this set-up to expire.

I think itll be "fine" for now lol.

But I'll see. I need to go pick up a 01E and subframe and then figure stuff out. But my next major hurdle here is figuring out the subframe situation
