Good luck. Id love to see this done. I think a 5.3 in a b5 would be awesome. Ive always dreamed of a turbo LS in my avant
I done some good reading and always see where they run into problems and that is the GM pully set up is huge and gets in the way. So that makes running a radiator super hard.
The 5.3 Truck motor has a gigantic water pump. So you have to go after market with Pullys, pump and oil pan. As the truck oil pan is then size of a 1.8t..... lol.
There are slim performance radiators. Which will help maybe even run a halfie I'll see how room looks when I get there.

you can cut up the front end a bit to get more room, but things like hood lock has to go. and use latches. I think its also requirement with VR6

Yeah hood lock has to go. Gut the inside of the core support and itll "fit"
I personally dont mind using some aftermarket latches/ hood pins.
But with a turbo 5.3 I'm not even sure itll fit a hood lol, only time will tell.

Use brackets and you can custom fit a radiator in there.

Crash bar will need to be fabbed up.

    And then a intercooler.
Once you start adding things room starts to get scarce.

Crashbar , you mean the reinforced part of the bumper ? Yeah I might have to cut that a bit, but I am talking about the crash supports that actually hold the front end on :)

This is the space I have, and I barerly clear the AC and I dont even know about the motor mount :D

Yeah the bar right behind the bumper. To not send the motor into your lap if you get it in the front.

Are you talking about cutting into the frame rail it self ?!

Why not do a top mount turbo?

Because I am using the stock 1.8T manifold that i got with an engine and I made a T3 adapter for it. It should be in one of my threads, but might repost it on my build thread.

    Ohhhh okay I see.
I recommend reinforcing the Frame rail if you have to cut it.

I probably wont need to cut, just hammer a bit , I already clocked the compressor to the left side, relocated WG so I clear the AC bracket, but I actually need to put on engine to see how it is. Cant work in 30 cm snow tho :D

Idgaf about the cold :D the issue is with space . Its a small wooden garage, but the main thing is that its full with parts, and an engine. and I cannot move it alone, I am thinking about dissassembling it somehow so I can store it somewhere else. I mean there is a good 30-40 cm on each side , so it is definitly enough to work but as I said its full with crap atm :D

That means it's the for the 1.8 to leave its home soon. Possibly next weekend I'll start pulling it and prepping the car.

Hope someone local wants to buy the 1.8 I dont wanna send a good motor off to the scrapper lol

its 80 euroish in Europe. so it cant be that much there. The 1.8t is like ~100kg without accessories, and 150-170kg with flywheel, exhaust manifold, oil filter housing etc.

Hey smart guy, it is. But you also have way more and cheaper transport companies/ package options than in EU by DHL or some other 1st class shipping.

I'm gonna try to sell it local. I hate shipping. Like I am the worst shipper ever.

If no one wants it. I'll load it up and send it to scrap with all the other scrap metal I have.

Cheaper says the guy that lives 4000miles away. I ship shit all the time, cost me $160usd to ship a longblock about 1000miles. lay off the crack saying $50 when you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. I know you have a problem of having to post like every 2mins, so you can't really help yourself.

Funny.. I did not say kilometers did I, the base shipping price is 50-100 usd depending on the company. It obviously increases with weight and distance... When and what I reply to - that is not your concern whatsoever :)

    Not even close
I spent $118 just to ship an APR Stage 3+ turbo kit 2500 miles.
Engine on a crate will definitely cost more.

To the OP: as a B5 owner and C5 Corvette Z06 owner, I'm curious to see how your project turns out.
