Across the board? I seriously hope if you are either A) trolling or B) are smart enough to realize not everyone should be penalized equally, in blanket fashion.

Should the guy that runs a bypass on his V8 that makes it sound like an open pipe in a tunnel be targeted? Blantantly, IMHO.
What about the majority that add a cat-back exhaust that, while not stock is also not obnoxious? $5k to them too, huh?

Lets kill the aftermarket businesses altogether. Wonder if SEMA is going to take a position in this fight?

And you know what the main driver for this was, yes? While the minor reason is the obnoxious few that are stupid with straightpipes on their Challengers, Mustangs, BMWs and yes our own (Audi), its a revenue stream for the state. THAT is the main driver.
By example, what happens if every driver becomes law abiding? Follows the VC to the bullet? No more fines...the system would collapse and they would have to come up with something else to squeeze money from us for.

In the real world, this happened in Los Angeles County with water. LA was in/has been in a drought. They asked their customers to cut back on water usage. They did so in such a great way that the MWD (Water Agency) was left with budget losses since revenue was way down....folks werent using water. So what did they do? Raised the rates so the money kept coming.

California is the same way. Its all about money and nothing about what is the right thing to do.

Ive never agreed with "A few F it up for the rest" as in how to solve that kind of problem. If the few are f ing it up...go after the few! If the rest are moderately f'ing up...they approach it moderately (fixit's and whatnots). This law needs to be more targeted/specific/detailed about what we are really trying to solve. Heck, if they were...it would actually make it harder to get around.

While I can’t stand load exhaust I think it’s another bs way California to milk more money for the already bull crap “roads”... we all know it’s not going to the roads

Idk, it’s the rules. Don’t like it? Move on over here to the east coast.

Just another reason I moved out of the land of fruits and nuts.
Loved living near the beach but not at the costs the government imposed. Now you have Gavin and his first person wife 🤦*♂️

95 decibels is pretty loud. Unless you're an obnoxious straight pipe clown you're likely fine. Lot of whining here for what's effectively just another rare "pay to play" item. It's also hilarious seeing some of the responses from people outside of CA who don't realize their states have much lower noise limits.

the 95db sound limit has been in place for decades, they usually don't pop you unless you're being obnoxious (revving, flooring it, at the illegal drag races) or your exhuast is actually way too loud. hopefully after a little burst of increased enforcement they go back to that.

no doubt some folks will get ticketed even though their car will be under 95db in the test, that is how its always been, but it might be more of a hassle to deal with it now.

States trying more and more to get money from us cause their bonds, and bills dont pass a vote...

Arizona tried several times for bonds to get passed, but the citizens voted nay!

Now the Govenor of Arizona just tacked and additional $32 'Safety' fee onto vehicle registration.

Guys, we know exactly who they are trying to go after - Its the "bypass" crew. They can say "Street racing", and that IS part of it...but the timing on the trend of bypasses and this stupid law is coincidental.

"straight pipes" (aka no muffler, bypasses, etc) were never a good idea for our the prior generations (our dads and dad's dads....or moms :) ) so whose surprised by this revenue generation move?
