swapped out my engine - 06 2.0T for a 08 2.0T - and never disconnected the wiring to the starter.
Everything all back together and the first time i turned the key i get one click from starter but no spinning. Turn again and not even a click. Lights don't even dim when i turn the key which tells me the starter istn't getting any juice at all (it'd be so easy to test if it wasn't buried underneath the turbo manifold).
Q1: where is the starter relay and/or fuse located (i'm sure a forum search would turn up the answer but i'm lazy)
Q2. is there a fusible link going to the starter or such? Or is there possibly a connector somewhere in the starter wriing that's loosened or failed.
again i never disconnected the starter from the car, just unbolted and let it dangle when i swapped the motors. As an aside, the motor turns easily by hand so there shouldn't be a problem with resistance preventing the starter from turning.
