    Options?

Hey guys I am looking to get out of my 2013 RS5 into an S6. I'm just wondering what the options to have are. There seem to be a number of seat options including some massage. Like the Alcentara seats in my RS so which ones are most sport bucket style? Is there a sport exhaust and sport diff option I want to make sure I have? How about suspension?

Additionally what is availabile for brake upgrades? I figure high temp fluid and drilled rotors, I didn't see any nice performance rotors when I did a quick search so what is available?

Guess it all depends on your use case. Are you tracking the car on weekends and running it hard?

I might take it to the track, but I'll definitely be pushing it pretty hard on mountain Twisties. I drive my cars hard.

It's not a track car, and will behave very differently from your RS5. It's big, heavy (so is the RS5) and fast. It's a luxury sedan. Did I say fast? That's not to say it'll not be fun in the twisties, but the RS5 is quite a bit smaller and will feel lighter on it's feet. The big difference I feel in the C7 vs B8 is in turns, it seems the tail comes around quicker. But when you blast out of an apex, the big girl takes a breath of air and whoosh you're gone. Get the S6, get a track rat too.

Thanks that's my plan. I'm thinking about doing an APR tune on the S6 if I can get it and eventually I'd like a Porsche 911 for track. The RS5 has such a beautiful engine and I love the car but as a daily it sucks only having two doors and I'm being eaten alive by maintenance and exclusive RS5 parts that cost a fortune.

    Hello,

Check out my classified ad - may be what you are interested in...It has everything you are mentioning and more...

    https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...6-S6-w-extra-s

As to answer your question - you want the sport seats if you want the bucket feel. You also want the sport package - which is sport exhaust and dynamic steering (sport differential) if you are going to take it through the "twisties"

Some people like the comfort seats, and while they seem to feel nice - I cant get over the look. I love the sport seats, albeit, less comfortable.

Which ones are the sport seats? I'm assuming the diamond sticker ones are the comfort? Or can they both be optioned with diamond stitching?

How can I tell if it has the sport package if hypothetical they don't have the window sticker or dont know?

There are only two seat options. Standard Sport seats and Comfort seats which has the massage. Both are heated. It sounds like you want the standard sport seats.

Is there a sport exhaust and sport diff option I want to make sure I have?
Yes if you are looking at 2016 and newer. The pre-facelift C7 >2015 came standard with the sport differential but there was no sport exhaust option back then.

    How about suspension?
There is only one suspension. "Audi adaptive air suspension (with S model specific tuning)."
Many many many forum members swear by the Eurocode sway bar upgrades which it sounds like you would want at some point.

FWIW the front rotors are 400x38 two piece pinned with aluminum hats. You would be hard pressed to find a better rotor. Some have had theirs cross-drilled or slotted but I thought that was largely archaic now.

Thank you very much! That answers alot.

I am mostly looking at 13's due to price. But I'm not sure I'll be getting with Audi again. Still thinking.

I was in the exact same position 6 months ago, went from '13 RS5 and now in a '14 S6. Same reasons as you too, RS was amazing but wasn't a great daily and the 2 doors makes it tough, with kids in my case. I'm so glad I went to the S6. Has the space I needed, still get a beastly V8, and I love the look and mods available. It feels bigger, heavier, AND faster than the RS5 in driving around town. Miss that high revving 4.2 though...wish I had the means to keep both cars!

My $.02 - definitely get the sport seats, and wait for one with every option you want (B&O was important to me, for the sound quality...and the tweeter gimmick). The price on them is dropping fast so you should be able to get a good deal, don't be afraid to have it shipped if the perfect one is in another state!

Stay with Audi! The S6 really is the perfect follow-up to owning an RS5 when you want a little more practicality

The only thing worrying me about staying with Audi is both Audi's I've owned now have been full of electrical Gremlins and I'm tired of it. Not sure I want to go down that rabbit hole again...

Electrical gremlins like what? I'm curious, been driving these cars for 30 years and have had many issues, but never have electrical issues been one of them.

Mid 90's-mid 00's are notoriously bad with electrical issues. If you haven't had any I'd be "shocked."

The 03 A4 I had had a missfire that would happen once every few months, all cylinders would spontaneously missfire and make me have to pull over and 5 minutes later it would be fine, neither the dealer nor the independent shop could figure it out.

This 13 RS5 has had a MAP sensor go, a camshaft adjustment solenoid go, and its got this steering problem the again the dealer and the independent shop can't figure out and have never seen before. I cruise down the freeway after work and when I hit the off-ramp after 20-25 minutes of driving I switch to dynamic while rolling down the off-ramp to rip through town, and as soon as I pull away from the light at the bottom of the off-ramp the dash lights up with dynamic steering, sport diff, and a few other warnings and then straightening out of that turn the wheel in now crooked 30-40 degrees to the right to go straight. I park in front of the house and the next morning the lights are gone and the wheel is straight again. The dealer looked at the fault codes and their answer is always to "test-drive" my car 50+ miles and give it back saying they can't find anything wrong. So then the independent shop did a 4 wheel alignment and it freaked out because the dynamic and assist modules couldn't see steering angle, so back to the dealer and they replicated what the shop did and nothing abnormal happened so they pulled the seat and physically inspected the module and no water damage or anything and now nothing is wrong. Again. $1400 of diag later out of pocket because no warranty. I am done with at the very least this car.

If you truly haven't then yes you are, but only two of the cars you listed fit into the era of the cars that are well known to have gremlins (C5 A6 and MK1 TT).

Are they like that from Audi? I ask because I picked up one of those S6/S7/S8 brake kits a couple weeks back and was exploring options. If the discs are like that from Audi, that's perfect!
