I don't know if this means anything, but it can't hurt to ask. My 2011 C6 A6 takes quite a few revs before it starts when the engine is cold. The starter goes for a full second, maybe a bit more. Maybe 5-7 revs. When the engine is warm, it starts pretty much instantly. Any thoughts on what makes it harder to start when it's cold, and if there is something I can do about to it make it start more easily. And when I say "cold" it doesn't mean it's really cold outside. It can be in the 70s or in the 30s and the issue is the same. I haven't had the car long enough to see how it reacts when it's really cold or really hot out.

I don't think the car has ever had a carbon cleaning, and it has 89k mi on it.

    Thanks.

So it could be a couple of issues... do you hear the fuel pump prime the rails when you open the driver door after itís been sitting for a while? It is a distinctive sound and should be easy to hear.
If you donít hear it, then the low pressure fuel pump may be going out on you.
If you do hear it, then the High pressure fuel pump may be starting to fail.
Do you have VAGCOM? If so, scan the car for any fault codes and report back.

Based of your other thread, a new battery may help this issue as well...

My 2011 C6 also has this similar issue. I just got my car in October and don't know a whole lot about what maintenance has been done. Just rolled over 88K as well. Could it possibly be the fuel filter also? I'll have to check the battery to see if there is a date code too. For all I know it could still have the original battery.

Our has been that way since we got it at around 75k. Hasn't changed in 60k miles, nothing has failed, no codes either. No difference after carbon cleaning and new plugs either, fwiw.

That's normal, my 09 3.0T is like that. The remedy is getting an ECU update from Audi as one of the adjustments they made is to shorten the cranking time on cold starts (among other updates/changes).

Thanks guys. I won't worry about it.

MikeyTheCat - The stickers on my battery didn't show any dates. If you look at the top of negative post, it has the week (or month?) and year. Mine looked like this:
    07
    11

So mine was either made in July 2011 or week 7 (February 2011). When I checked the battery after sitting for most of a day, it was only showing 12.17v. When running at an idle, it was up to 13.6. So my alternator is working, but I didn't want to chance the battery, since I'm about to go north for a 1000 mile road trip, and it will be in the teens at night. So I spent the $200 and replaced it.
