Anyone upgrading to the new C8?

Anybody in a C8 here yet?

Got a chance to check them out for the first time at the Phoenix Auto Show this last weekend and was impressed (mostly) with both the A6 and A7 in person. Cabins feel more high end then the outgoing cars - the dual screens will take some time to get used to. Hated the fake exhaust tips.

I must say the A7 looks better in person then pictures - and the rear lightbar doesnt look half as bad standing next to the car. I'm super excited for the S / RS versions of these cars as I know they will be knockout.

Next step it to drive both and see how they feel. As a side note - I really enjoyed the Q8 as well - seats / cabin felt insanely comfortable. Might be a contender down the line as well!!

I definitely liked the audis midsize segment leaps and bounds over the 5s (bmw) and the Es (benz) respectively.

Have yet to see a new A6 or A7 in white, and wow that looks fantastic!

I too was impressed with the looks of the A7 in person. IMO it looks far better than the A6. Now if AoA gave us the A6 in Avant form, that might be a different story... I love the looks of the C8 A6 Avant, in photos anyway. It just works better for me than the sedan.

The non-exposed tailpipes aren't a dealbreaker for me. I wouldn't call them "fake exhaust tips", they're just not visible. Looks clean and modern, but I do prefer the look of an exposed tip. Makes it look more sporty. I assume the S and RS versions will have visible pipes.

Anyway, my A7 is currently in transit. Should arrive sometime this week.

I just ordered mine a couple of weeks ago. I was kicking around a few other cars, but ended up with the new A6. I think it looks VERY good in person and the interior is fantastic. The technology is just crazy cool. SHould arrive in Feb.

That's funny.....I think the previous A7 looks better than the new A7, and the new A6 is a huge improvement over the last A6. I still like the A7- very cool car but i settled on the A6

I agree with you. Styling of the New A6 is an nice improvement/evolution over prior version. But the new A7ís styling isnít as striking of an improvement

I too agree that the A6 is a big improvement and the A7 not as much. I think i like everything on the A7 except for the front. It just looks cheaper than the A6.

    Two gripes about both cars:

    1. Cannot stand the fake exhaust outlets.

    2. Cannot take the two big radar areas on the front grill on either car (and the Q8). You can avoid that on cars without that option.

The new A6 just looks too boxy in person for me. In standard sedan form anyway. Too much like the big executive A8. The A7 just looks more dynamic, compared to both the new A6 and the previous A7. But hey, to each his own. I guess that's why Audi offers both versions.

Saw an A7 up close and got to sit in it. It does look better in real life than picture and the light bar I think youíll learn to live with/ignore if you donít already like. The interior is a mixed bag for me. Finally Audi is giving you a leather dash and upper door trim on what is basically a $90k -as equipped- car, but the touch screen everything is a huge detractor for me. Maybe itís something youíll learn to live with but my god is it a bad idea? Iím sure itís emerged out of many focus groups, but you need to navigate the touch screen menu to turn on the seat heater vs flicking a switch or button. Many other manufactures are doing it, like Porsche and Land Rover and perhaps this is the unfortunate future weíve got ahead of us. The distraction thing has been documented in many publications already fwiw. Also fingerprints everywhere so keep your microfiber towel in the glovebox.

I donít know. At this point Iím considering an E63 wagon, even though I have it on good authority that we will be getting an RS6 even though I prefer the Audiís look over the offering from Mercedes, comparing current RS6 with E63 wagon. Iím sure C8 RS6 will be even hotter. The user interface is just that big of a deal for me.

The, the Q8 looks awesome inside and out and I hated it initially in press photos. I think Audi nails the whole SUV coup look where both Mercedes and BMW miss the mark IMO.

Have a C8 A7 right now as a loaner while my 2013 S7 is worked on. Definitely a different experience altogether. Incredible technology and comfort, also looks great inside and out.

The virtual dash and 99% touchscreen controls take me out of the driving experience a little bit. Feel like I'm driving a big smartphone. Call me old fashioned. 20190110_080411.jpeg20190110_080223.jpeg

Drove the new A6 a few weeks back and really wasn't that impressed. I had LOTS of sun glare from the dash and found a couple things that just didn't make sense with the controls. I sat in a prestige A7 and liked it much better, although I cannot get past the relocation of the radar in the front grill - its super ugly, and the fake exhaust tips.

I have a '14 TDI A6 prestige and Ill stick with that for the foreseeable future. What I find most disappointing is the lack of options when building a car.... such as 1 wheel option that looks good, but you have to get "summer" tires, that makes no sense where I live as it does snow here! What ever happened to the black optics package? Too much chrome for my tastes, and that package might make the radar more palatable too!

Overall I think the style of the A7 is nice, and the A6 while more modern, it just doesn't grab either myself or my wife. Ive got 4 Audis and a VW CC in the driveway now, however if the company is making "less is more" their future direction Ill vote economically and be looking seriously at other brands as our existing fleet ages out.

I finally saw one ďin the wild.Ē It looked better in person than how it tends to look in photos. The rear didnít look as bad as i thought it would, either (that rear indentation at the lights looks weird to me in the photos, but itís not that bad in person). It was glacier white as well.

I didn't get a chance to drive it yet, only rode as passenger (dad's car). He was coming from an A7 TDI.

The tech inside is nice. Touchscreens work well, very fluid. Haptic feedback on the climate control is great substitute for real buttons.
The ride is smooth and the cabin quiet. The stop-start system was more noticeable than I thought it would be. I was surprised by this because I thought the beefy 48volt system would make engine refire inconspicuous. Granted, the engine wasn't broken in and it was pretty cold outside. Things may have changed since I last rode in it.

So I have a 2019 A6 coming in about a month that I custom ordered. Loaded with the exception of B & O sound system and the night vision. Silver with black leather and the Y spoke 21" wheels. I started having second thoughts after reading a couple posts on here so I went to the dealership over the weekend to look at the S5 sportback. Glad I did. I am so happy I ordered a new A6. It really looks WAY better with the 21" wheels and the technology on these new gen cars is over the top. The only thing that bugs me are the fake exhaust tips.....I do not understand who at Audi thought that was the right thing to do! But that really is the only thing I do not like - I love the styling and how it drives.

Had a c7.5 A7. Drove an C8 A6 loaner while getting my RS7 winter tires in. Feels expensive inside. Quiet. Like the stitching/leather on the dash. looks like the new A8. But those touch screens... turned me off quite a bit....really did not feel intuitive navigating the climate control. Really don't like direction of the fake exhaust look.

Still like the C7 better. The body had more exaggerated curves (A7/S7). I'm also not a fan of touch screens and disappointed that the S7 will have a 6 cylinder.
