Rotomaster k04's who has actually run them?

I have looked through the forums and seen people talk about them, but didn't see anyone who has had them on for a good amount of miles. Sorry if I totally missed another post. I have seen that rotomaster got bought out by A1 cardone recently, but still assemble their own turbos. I'm sure most of their parts are made in China or Taiwan, but so are SRM snd JHM's turbos to my knowledge. I would be interested to hear from people who have firsthand experience with these turbos and willing to share their experience. They now also come with a 3 year 36k warranty.

Yes, I know borg Warner is going to be better. I also know there are better aftermarket options for a few hundred more. Just looking for info on there Canadian "assembled" turbos. Thanks!

Somewhat unrelated but I work at a Mazda dealership and we had a service contract provide a turbo from rotomaster because Mazda oem (a borg Warner k04) was too expensive and when we got it the 4 holes to mount it to exhaust manifold weren't even tapped so quality control is definitely lacking

It's to the point where all the problems just run together in a spider web of disappointment and mush.

Lol, that would definitely be a problem. Did they send y'all a new turbo?

I installed a set on a friends car. I found that after setting the WG preload once they were being operated one side had changed and I needed to reset the preload. It wasn't from the nut backing off, it just was different after being in use a short time. At this point the car has only been running with them a few hundred miles and I'm not aware of any other issues arising.

I have some on my allroad. They were actually on a parts car I was using for my manual swap so I have no clue how many miles they had on them, dirt and grime seemed to indicate they had been in there a while. Had no plans to use them but one of my stock turbos had a damaged comp wheel so I threw them in to get it going.

So i've got not even 10k on them but they have a lot more overall and are working fine. The WGs suck, one was bad and I swapped a stock one on in the car (not worst job), the other one seems to be inconsistent and I'm going to swap that one too. So i'd probably consider different gates if you go for them.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on them. I'm going to that the advice and get a better set of wastegate to put on them as well. Thanks everyone!

    BUMP!

Rotomaster turbos is local to me in Canada - ridiculously good price on a pair of K04's. Anyone have experience to share running Rotomaster K04's?
