    So I have a 99 A4 b5 aeb and itís tuned I took it to get smogged and failed, I figured. Anyways I need to buy another airbox and ecu, my ecu is 8d0907557p, so my guess is anyone thatís the same number will work but I hear you have to program it. I donít know what the program is so any help would be great and I found these in my car from previous owner and idk wat they are. Also car has a magnaflow exhaust and has cat and does have a muffler. Iím a noob to Audiís, so idk much about them

    some are plug and play, i have replaced one and just had to do an adaptation on my throttlebody through VCDS, the cable on the left is a obd2 to pc cable, probably used vcds check out http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/

    Do you think I can use the ob2 to usb for programming the new ecu?

    gonna have to ask someone who has plenty of experience with ross-techs stuff, I have only used it 4 times in the 2 years of having it because I just have a stock 1.8t and its mostly been suspension parts giving me trouble

    does that one have a usb port on the other end? if so thats the one i mentioned was the OBD2 to USB, You plug that end into the car and the USB into a laptop to use VCDS

    no, there is no real reprogramming with that cable. It is a generic ebay vcds cable, with what looks like a fake reprogrammer. Since you have an AEB you pretty much are stuck with OTS tunes or Maestro.

    Edit: If the other end of the blue cable has a usb, you can use vcds lite to recode a stock 557p from auto to manual or vice versa. https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...4-ECU-Recoding

    If it is a simple stage 1 with exhaust, figure why you failed and correct it (ie need a different catalytic converter, run stock intake if running a cone filter, etc). There are people in CA run BT apps and configure their setups to pass smog. Do the same.

    Buy a used one and keep your tuned one for after you pass smog.

    The weird thing is idk wat time it has all ik is I had to buy the stock airbox and install it cause this one had a forge inlet and k&n air filter and she has a forge diverter valve, now I got a p1565 code and p0102 so I bought a new maf cause it was broken and Iím cleaning the throttle body

    Thx I cleaned the inside of the throttle body and my maf comes in tomorrow hopefully she starts and I meant tune instead of time
