My Car Froze When I Tried To Start It

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Guys,

I have a 2013 S4.So this morning I went to start my car and the dash light up but made no noise to crank the car. The dash is illuminated with lights and the needle on the speedometer and rpm meter are about a 1/4 of the way up. I can't turn on or off the power to the car or lock and unlock the vehicle. Anybody have any idea what to do? Any help would be appreciated!

Nah I don't think so although its possible. Just not sure why it would freeze the way it did if it was dead.

Low battery causes all kinds of wierdnesses. I've been skeptical in the past, but was wrong. I would check it.

This^, battery management system has a mind of it's own. And logically, if it was running perfectly fine the night before, what really could have happened to it physically, except power related? Start there.

The only other thing I've had weird DIS issues in my B7 and C5 in the past when it was cold, but it's not cold enough yet to produce those.

Yes, makes sense to start with battery (agree likely your issue), especially since you don't seem to have power elsewhere. I will say though (and there have been at least 3 B6 threads about it in the last week), I've had the car run fine then jump in to leave in the morning and had no crank, ended up being the starter. Everything else was working fine though power wise. No crank is certainly easier to sort out than no start IMO.

I also think it is related to battery. I remember seeing someone post a picture where one of the connections to the battery had segment burned out similar to a fuse .

Definitely the battery. Had the same thing happen to me last week and the dash lights wouldn’t turn off. Replaced the battery and everything is back to normal.
