    2011 Q5 key fob, off topic ?

Mods can remove if needed, but we get way more traffic on here so I figured I would ask.

I have a 2011 Q5 as my daily, I lost one of the FOBs.(they are the newer style keys without a shank, just a spare in the back of it). I'm finding so much conflicting information on how I can get a replacement. Is it not possible to order a former used FOB and have the dealer program it to the car? I've found many people saying used FOBs are paperweights and you have to buy a brand new one from the dealer. Anyone familiar with this can confirm or not? Would love to buy a used FOB for under 100 and have a spare again, Im not too worried about getting the spare key blade cut. Just want another working key FOB

Give this a shot. Seems to me you should be able to do it. I'm not sure if this is just for brand new FOBs or if it includes used ones as well. I would imagine a used FOB would respond to this because your essentially matching it to your vehicle. Also, if you don't have a VAGCOM cable yet, I would highly recommend one. Mine has been an invaluable tool for me and the wife's Audis.
