    New(ish) A6 questions

I just purchased 2006 A6 Avant in fantastic shape with only 100k miles! love the car so far!
However, I am trying figure out a few things - especially bluetooth.
I have found I have the MMI 2G high unit with a non-motorola cradle (thanks to much research here)

However, I am trying determine my software version since I think I need to be at the latest version before I can any progress with getting bluetooth up and going.
Following the directions from from mr-fix.info:
"Check you current software version and confirm that it is lower than 5570.
Navigate to CAR → SETUP → Version and check SW line"

but all I see is "no further setup is available.."

Any help on how I can view the software version? and... how can I update the software if I cannot get to the car -> set up menu/options?

    Thanks for all your help!

Go setup and then hit the upper right button(settings). This will give you a further menu and then select Version.

Finally found my software version - seems mine is in a different place than is detailed by some. Maybe because I do not have the latest.
It appears I am on 5035
    [IMG][/IMG]

    so, now to the original question - bluetooth;
    1) Do I need to upgrade to the latest software? (the car has blue tooth but I don't see an option to connect a new phone)
    2) is this something I need to activate in a green menu or through VAG-COM?
    3) next step - best option for streaming music?

    Thanks,

So where was you version located??

The Bluetooth connection is done through the phone and not the MMI. When going into the Bluetooth settings of the phone and search, you should see the Audi MMI listed. Select that and then the pairing code is 1234.

As for Bluetooth streaming...does your car have the Audi Music Interface (AMI)? Is there a 30 pin iPod connector in the glovebox?

my 'version' options was simply pressing the lower right button from the car menu. I kept going to setup (as it seems everyone else has to do) and could not find it.
I do not have the AMI - I am pretty sure I need that to stream music. I am looking for user experience on the best way to get streaming audio - I am happy to disconnect the 6 CD changer and hook up am AMI cable - is there a better, easier, or cheaper method?

Also, Thanks for the guidance on the bluetooth!
I have my phone paired now - I was making that to complex and kept looking for a 'make discoverable' type of option in the Audi.

    Thanks,
    Lee

btw... I loved the A6 so much I just bought an '04 TT as well : )

    Nice.

Glad to hear you have your phone paired now.

As for Bluetooth streaming, options are limited and somewhat expensive; AMI or a Denison Gateway.
I have AMI and I am using a Viseo Tune2Air. It works well and put the play list etc on the MMI screen and I can control it with the MMI.
