New 2013 S8 Mod Thread

Some of you may already know, I'm moving on from a C7 A7 3.0T to a new (to me) 2013 S8 4.0T. I thought I would do a proper intro in the A8/S8 forum.

I pretty much bought everything under the sun for the A7, and held the 1/4 mile record for quite some time. The S8 is a completely different beast.

Mods so far:
- BMC air filters
- Racechip GTS

Future Mods:
- Mikes Custom Catted DP
- HPtuners TCU mod
- Tint
- Paint correction and ceramic coat

Love it, my pivotal issue was turbo reliability from many who have the 4.0t. Additionally, I drive about 120 miles day and the 3.0 gives me the best of both worlds.

Update.

Just switched from the Racechip to APR stage 1. I was actually very happy and surprised with the Racechip. Very easy to install, program switching with a phone app, and you can definitely feel the added power. Great choice for anyone not wanting to flash their car for warranty purposes.

I planned on a dedicated tune anyway, but decided to take advantage of Racechip's 30 day return policy. Customer service was excellent.

Now...APR Stage 1. Just absolutely ridiculous and completely overkill. There are a ton of reviews on it already, so no need to echo....just totally overkill and unnecessary.

Now on to stage 2.

I did confirm also, like others have reported, Girodisc has their 400mm rotors in stock. Those are on the list now too.

Can you pair Mike's DP with APR stage 2 or do you have to go with APR's DPs?

The way I understand it, is if you use APR DPs, the stage 2 file is free. If you use any other it's $500.

It shouldn't make a difference performance wise, minimal if any.

Roc-euro intake is in. John had it in stock and I received it in about 10 days from ordering, I just got around to installing it today. It's missing the bottom heat shield section from the passenger side, but other than that, all was there and looks good. I'll hit up John about the missing part later, it won't affect anything for now.

I was wondering what other 4.0T owners meant regarding the sound. Holy shit is there a difference. I can see how some might be annoyed by it. It is a cool sound for now, nothing I would want to instantly remove, but wayyyy louder than oem.

Yes you can definitely hear the spool and blow off. Especially with the windows cracked.

You won't regret it. I want sure about the sound at first, but it's almost essential for this car, especially since I don't plan on doing any exhaust upgrades. Enjoy.

So much better!! I used Power Stop Z16 ceramic pads as suggested in another thread. Pretty happy so far. They grab pretty damn well for ceramic pads. Can't speak to dusting yet as I've only put 50 miles on them.20181105_150836.jpeg 20181105_150745.jpeg

so how do you like your miltek nonres? also do you have catless downpipes? i am really debating if I want to get an exhaust or not as I drive about 80k miles per year and dont want to cruise with a really noisy exhaust.

I have a 2015 Audi S8 with Milltek non-resonated Catback exhaust....and absolutely love it. No drone, and sounds amazing at startup. I have a few exhaust clips on instagram: ingym4life

I am thinking about doing an intake and high flow cat downpipes next.

Tempting to get a full exhaust, but I like it quiet. I'll see how the car sounds after the down pipes. There's definitely a no-drone advantage with turbo cars, and the Milltek sounds great.
