    Good Audi shop in Portland

Well after seeing all this about the class action. I think I am gonna be out of luck to get them to pay for the tensioner/chain update so I think I might bite the bullet myself :( I was looking at some new wheels, tires and tune but think the money will
Be better spent on preventative equipment.

Anyways, anyone in the local Portland area know a good shop that is reasonable priced and I could trust with the tensioners and timing chain? Iíve heard horror stories about shops doing this job and causing more issues after the job is done.

I would only go to either futrell autowerks or matrix integrated for a job like that. I follow futrellís IG and Iíve seen them do a fair share of ea888 carbon cleans, rebuilds, and tensioners.

Only dealt with new car upgrades, but both Futrell on the West side of Portland or Double J on the East have been great to work with.

I am an advisor at Audi Beaverton and have been in the enthusiast community for 15+ years. I'd be more than willing to help get you taken care of. Definitely a good idea to get it taken care of. Are you out of the warranty extension by time/mileage?

Are you guys covering the full expense of installing the new tensioner etc as part of the extended warranty/class action lawsuit for preventative maintenance? I've got a 2010 with only 81k miles and would prefer to get it taken care of BEFORE the tensioner blows up.

Audi will not cover it as a preventative item. The warranty extension is 10/100k from the original in-service date. In order to get it covered under the extension there has to be a failure of some sort whether that's a drivability issue or a CEL with fault codes related to it. We can definitely do it as preventative, but Audi will not cover the expense.

i dont know what independent shops are charging for this job. but i will say i took my car in to brian and they fixed it no questions asked. they verified the noise and got right to work. very easy to work with.

i think beaverton audi does a really good job.

So I've got 19,000 miles to hope the tensioner gives out and possibly destroys my engine. That's sad. Thanks Audi.
Thanks for the info. Appreciate the response. Not blaming you directly, its obviously not your fault.

If you go with an independent shop Audi only knows what the shop said they found right? Say you took her in for slapping noise and they found the tensioner was failing... I've never had an issue finding someone to do some paid work who saw things my way. Given the problems Audi has had with the 2.0t and not willingly stepping up to fix these issues I wouldn't lose any sleep.

hey Brent-essentially, yes. If the timing chain does fail within the warranty extension and does cause damage, those items would fall under consequential damage, which would be covered. I rarely see major damage caused by the chain, but i can't say i haven't seen it...just not as common as everyone would like to make it seem. If it were me and my own personal car, I would wait it out because if it did fail and cause any further damage it'd be covered, but if no failure occurs within the period, then I would have it done as preventative after the fact.

I know you aren't blaming me, and I don't take any offense to it. Part of my job is to educate and help people make the right decisions for them and their vehicles, however I do originate from the enthusiast community and have been on these boards for over 16 years. with that being said, there is some good information that can be found on the forums, but also misinformation as well as we all know. I am just hoping I can offer some clarity to the issue at hand, and am always willing to help however I can!

also this information and extension is assuming your engine is not modified, because a tune or similar will void that just like a new vehicle warranty, but the paperwork should go over all of that.

    Thanks, Cameron!

I just want to help change the "stealership" misconception that people tend to have. We always try to do a good job and take care of people however we can, as well as stay competitive in the market. At the end of the day, people have the option to choose to take their cars wherever they want, and we'd love for folks to choose us as we have factory trained techs, all of the correct tools, etc.

Brian is the best! Iíve been in a few times and they fixed everything I was having issues with. No charge. The best part is I call him with 20 minutes notice and he still gets me a loaner, A+ service!

I've known Brian a long time and he's always been personable, a straight shooter, excellent service! He'll take great care of you.

Trained techs, proper factory tools, etc. Very important, and something most independent shops (including ones suggested here) won't enlighten you about as you might not be pleased to know who they have working on your car, the technician's level of experience/how long they've been in the auto industry, etc. Want to know who's on our team and their specialties? No smoke and mirrors here. We make it clear who our professionals are and who will be working on your vehicle(2 of them were previously the head techs at one of the other shops mentioned), as we're very honored to have the experienced staff we do, no hiding it!; http://www.matrixintegrated.cc/about-us/team/

PS--Brian, under the warranty repair are you guys also replacing the lower/balance shaft timing chain and camshaft bridge timing cover (due to the oil screen often popping off the original)?
