Is this supposed to light up?

I have these door sill guards and they have a white part that look like it should illuminate...Is it supposed to? I have never seen it light up.

The white inlay in the stainless steel section look like it could light up. Any one have these? Do yours light up?

I have a 2018 SQ5 and the 'S' logo is there. It is illuminated when the door is open.

I have a 2015 S Line and nothing illuminates on the sill plate.

Same for my '14 S-Line Q5. Seeing how OP has an '18 Q5 I believe that'd carry over.

The illuminated door sill was, I believe, only an SQ5 (along with all other S/RS models) feature.

No, not on the Q5. Door sill trim only illuminates on the 18 S models. afaik.

It’s weird how it doesn’t light up in a B9 Q5 Prestige but it does in my B9 A4 P+. Audi does make weird changes.

Does anyone know if the sill guards are held in place by clips or adhesive? I'm guessing 3m tape but I don't want to ruin the bond on them to find out.

I agree. But my A4 is cheaper than a Q5. That’s why it doesn’t make sense. The cheaper car has an illuminated sill guard whereas the more expensive car doesn’t? Hehe
