So can I buy an old iPod load my mp3 songs on it and play through the 31 pin cord in the glove box???

I know it's 10 year old technology but I don't want to screw with cutting wires to install a new he tooth for music I'll just listen to Satellite Radio on Sirius if I need to

Instead of buying an Ipod, just get an aux adapter for $10

Or, a bluetooth adapter for $90 which maintains mmi functionality including steering wheel controls

It plugs into the AMI in the glove box where the iPod adapter is currently plugged in

That is if the car came equipped with an AMI.

Your D3 S8, like mine, did not come with an AMI. So your choices are to buy the AMI, usually from ebay. But be careful as the later model AMI will not work in the older gen cars. There are threads around that give you the exact instructions, but the AUDI part number is 4E0 035 785.

You will need to also buy the proper cables.

He mentioned he has a 30 pin connector in the glove box, maybe it was retrofitted prior to ownership?

This connector from Amazon didn't work;(

The upper pin item is the connector from the glove box. I believed the Audi all had that style connection in the glove box.

    I am/should consider a cheap iPod if I knew I had the right connection1537109647743.jpeg
