How many keys came with your SQ5?

When I picked up my car they gave me the two key fobs and I thought maybe there was a another plastic key or valet key in the case where the manual and stuff were. But there nothing else, before I call and ask figured I would check here first

Did you check the glove box? There’s a holder for it on the right side inside the glove box.

I got two key fobs, not aware of any valet key. Only the valet option on the app.

Car should come with three keys. The plastic key is the master key used for replacing and cutting new keys if needed. The valet keys are found attached to each key fob and there are two of those.

Definitely follow up with the dealer. You don't want to lose that plastic key.

So no plastic key? I will look in glove box to see if I have one, maybe you should also? Not sure what that valet option on app is ?

Can you please attache picture of the plastic key that you use to cut new now?

Got to look at it I guess. The app will allow to set speed limitations and geo fencing. It’s part of the app connect

Also everyone please make sure we are speaking about 2018 SQ5 not old one, my old came with a plastic key to keep in your wallet to unlock door if you luck your self out but not the new one.

I bought my 2015 SQ5 PP on 07/28/18 so this really peaked my curiosity. Mine came with 2 key fobs and the plastic key shell in the holder inside the glovebox on the right. I assume the valet keys are the removable keys that slide into the side of the key fobs. So it looks like I am missing the plastic emergency key that mates to the shell inside the glovebox.

My 2014, purchased this past May, had two Smart Keys and the plastic key but no shell so I ordered one from AliExpress. Hasn’t arrived yet so I can’t vouch for quality.

So this is confusing. I checked my glove box and it looks like it has the clip where the holder for wallet key would go but nothing there. I then checked owners manual it says two keys. It also says you can go to vehicle setting and see how many keys came with car, so I did that and it showed 2 keys. Then I looked online at owners manual for the 2014 SQ5 I had and it shows 3 keys, they call the plastic key an emergency key. So I don't think new SQ5 comes with that plastic but you say yours did?

Here is what an Audi plastic key would look like. The other thing is what manual says is used to cut/code a new key. That should have come with your car and you want to put it somewhere safe

I was able to find the clear plastic holder with the metal piece inside the leather binder that holds the service manuals. Looks like I’m off to the dealer to order a plastic key from Germany and have the old plastic key deleted from the MMI.

There is nothing to delete on the plastic key from the MMi you won’t star the car with it. It’s only to open door with traditional luck if power I’d dead and you and you don’t have your other key or if you loose your fob but have the plastic in a wallet.

please tell me where exactly would you insert or communicate with the computer using the plastics key ? as it has no transponder, battery, logic board, its a small plastic piece a. the "shell" u describe is used on the old models when you still have to insert the shell in to ignition to start it 2018 cars have no ignition.

    Thank you,

i know some people are with old SQ5 or q5 as this is a mixed forum (this is already confusing as people don't mention the car model) but the ones that state to have a 2018 ether have no idea about there car or just don't have it. nothing wrong if you post and don't have a car but don't steer other people in the wrong direction making them look for things that don't exist

Well you make it easy with your Username but what happens when you change cars? :). I'm a moderator on R8Talk forum and I try to get people to put in their car/cars in their signature with year, model, transmission, Also their location on profile. This really helps people to answer questions when they have all that info

My SQ5 came with that transparent plastic but no black plastic key. The Audi brand specialist put it in the manual bag/case when I picked up my SQ5. He showed me when he inserted the plastic but I did not know what it was nor he mentioned what it was. The transparent plastic has the last 7 digits of the VIN and some QR codes. I assume the QR codes are for creating the new key. There is also what looks like a plastic key holder in the glove box located towards the middle.
