    good monitor for photo editing?

I would like to spend some more time and effort on photo editing. The 13 inch screen on my Dell XPS laptop is good quality but rather small for use of Lightroom. I am thinking of getting a good desktop monitor, say 24 inch for photo editing and general use. There is a bewildering choice out there and it's hard to get an idea of the sweet point of price vs performance.

The more expensive monitors boast of things I don't fully understand the benefit of like different colour gammuts etc. My old A3+ photo printers is dead and drivers not available for current Windows, I will get a good replacement sometime in the future, so although ability to colour match is not needed now it will be later.

My laptop will display 1920x1080 but can support monitors with much higher resolutions - Will these higher resolutions be beneficial on a 24 inch monitor?
Or you can check out the monitor described in this article, please tell me which is best? I am really confused.

Any help, guidance, experience would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

It will be better if you used a PC on editing, I feel like the screen is so small whenever I use my HP Pavilion Laptop. I prefer using a PC with 2 monitors, it is easier to edit a photo.

I use a 27" 5k iMac and I'm never going back. I used to use 21 inch Samsung monitors, but they are small and lo-res in comparison to a 5k monitor.

I hate apple... But... I'm using an old 20" apple cinema display that I bought wayyy back in 2010? Still seems to work good and cost like 20 bucks now. lol Its crazy.

I'm hoping to build a new tower this fall, and I'll be looking at a new monitor.

Some people don't consider to get a monitor, they prefer to install advanced graphics cards etc. But, BenQ SW2700PT and ASUS ProArt PA329Q are the best monitors for photo editing.

I would go with Asus. They make a great display. You can get them for not too much depending on what your looking for. I would go for the VP or MX Series monitors.
