    Nice score on the rotors!

I wonder how those will look as well.

Compared to stock Allroad 8" wide ET26 wheels, these 8.5" ET43 will be 23mm closer to the strut and will tuck in 11mm more in the wheel well.

In comparison, the S5 rotors move only 20mm closer to the strut, but the outer edge is 6mm further out.

That's actually a really good video, thanks for posting! Looks like a good repair is certainly feasible on the DIY level.

Began cleaning up the wheels this morning. The intial brake dust came out without any issues using some Iron-X, however there is a large amount of what seems to be tar on the inside. I scrubbed a section briefly with some compound and it came off, so later today I plan to get my DA polisher with a cutting disc on it so remove as much of the tar as possible.

I would also try something like 'Goo Gone' first.

Busy yesterday, but tried goo gone on a microfiber...would take hours - found the TRICK!
Mr Clean scrubber & Goo Gone is the secret recipe. 3-4 passes and its gone!

Above is 5mins worth, so now I know I won't need a 3" polisher or anything, I can get moving and get them all brand spanking new.

Nice discovery! better than using a polisher too, because with satin finish on those wheels you would end up with glossy spots everywhere you polished it.

    One wheel down!

The combination of Mr Clean scrubber & Goo Gone...well...you can see the results:

I think I've decided to not refinish the lips after further inspection - the machine marks would be very difficult to replicate and I don't want to have to do ALL the other wheels to match...
So will live with the little curb rash in a few spots.

To lock in the cleaning work done so far - going to be applying a Ceramic coating to the entire wheel inside and out. Should keep them squeaky clean!

    Nice work!

With Goo Gone, you can just dab it on the spot and let it soak a bit to dissolve the tar before using a towel. Yes, the sponge would work well too to gradually remove the layers.

Taking forever to actually finish cleaning up the wheels...but I installed one to ensure the Porsche Maccan calipers would clear and I was happy with the fit and look.

I think they look great! In the future I may go for a little chunkier tire height to fit the "allroad" lifted height, but I'll use these up first, or maybe get 19's for my E350 and move the tires onto that. Probably 40 or 45 height would look best. Not really interested in lowering the car.
The stock lug nuts from the allroad look terrible though as they have a hole in the center of each lug, so I'll be getting some different ones since they are visible now.

My next CPO service is due now, so got to finish cleaning these up maybe this weekend so I can fit the rest and take it to dealer (so they don't bother harassing me over the old set of tires being at 4.5/32".

Looks great with the rotors on! I agree, some meatier tyres would perfect the look (35profile is what I run on my sedan with 19s so I imagine the allroad needs 40 or 45s).

Great job on that wheel cleanup too!

Those look great! Even with the S4 specs.

    I can't decide between S5 rotors or RS5 10-spoke forged wheels.
The ceramic coating sounds like a great idea! Let us know how the first wash goes and how easy it is to clean them vs without the coating.

The ones in the photo was not one I have ceramic coated yet, still dirty. I didn't mount the one I have finished in case it didn't fit and got it dirty again...

I'm personally not a fan of lots of spokes because they are terrible to clean...goodluck finding S5 rotors though, I had trouble and that's why I went S4. I can't even tell a difference in the offset to be honest, but if you're the type who wants ultra flush, S5 is the way of course. If I added 10mm spacers I bet I would have the same look though of course.

It should have a perfect test -- the front's I put Akebono's on, the rear has the stock pads. When COVID is over and I actually drive again, after a week or so, I'll take a photo comparing the front & rear so you can see how the stock Audi pads in the rear stick to the ceramic (or doesnt!) compared to the front.

I ceramic coated the wife's new Q5 and its incredible how nothign sticks to it. Out here in Arizona lots of dust and sand especially if you go on any dirt trails...as soon as you get on the freeway it just all blows off!

Might have to try this now that I swapped wheels. I just cleaned my winter Wheels but the insides are still dirty. Might give this a whirl as I have both items in the garage.

Had a productive day and got the rest of the Rotor wheels cleaned up and two applications of ceramic coats.
Then had a good 25-mile drive, so took the opportunity when I got home to check my cam adaptation values.

Last time I checked was 23,400-miles, but I don't think I had the car warmed up enough because the value declined.

    Have 31,900 miles:

So I doubt I've seen any wear in the last 8500mi - looks good to me! Shorter oil change intervals, and adequate engine warm up before heavy acceleration I am sure makes a big difference. Car's running great and now I am ready to drop it off for the AudiCare oil change knowing no issues with the car!

Great work on those wheels and very nice ride! The Porsche brakes look great - I'm jealous!
I have 19" rotors with 40 profile tyres. With the state of some roads here in the UK, 40 profile is the lowest I would go. The change from 18" with 45 profiles to 19" with 40 profile tyres can be felt easily!
Btw, I use wheel nut covers to cover up the open wheel bolts in the rotors.

Just installed the wheels last night, looks fantastic...will get a picture up soon once its washed. Its going to the dealer this morning for AudiCare oil change, only thing is I doubt they'll do the spark plugs because its not at 35k yet, and my audicare ends 2/2021, so this will be the last service. I can do all that stuff myself anyway, so I'll get new spark plugs in soon since its time. Hoping they will bleed the brakes, new cabin filter and the oil change since AFAIK that's what the 35k service calls for (except I am at 32k due to time).

    ----

Next itch is going to be the rear brakes to S4/S5! This will upgrade from 300x12mm solid to 330x22mm vented.

Combined with these sexy rear zimmerman rotors from FPCEuro:

I have a couple used sets on ebay with bids on. Buying new is out of the question since they are all crazy prices. Idea is to buy used and have them disassembled, media blasted, powdercoated grey to match the front calipers, then rebuilt with new seals.
Pads will be Akebono EUR1018B to keep the dust off the beautiful new wheels!

May take a good number of months due to personal time restrictions doing projects these days, but hopefully before year-end LOL!

I picked up a clean set of S4 rears in the B8 classifieds on this site for a good deal. Make sure they include the EPB (electric parking brake) motors. I think they're different. Might be a B8 vs B8.5 difference but I have a friend who had a problem putting his allroad EPB onto an S4 caliper.

Won the calipers! Taken off a front-end totaled 2014 S5. Includes the brackets and parking motors - got both for $240 shipped which is about what I was willing to spend.

Also just won a set of Genuine Audi wheel locks for $22 on eBay! Brand new nobody else up bidding on it. They are selling for $50-60 all day long on there so got super lucky!

So wheel locks and gray wheel lug covers are on their way.

After more thinking considering the condition of the new S5 rear calipers, I may just leave them powder coated factory black. I’ll clean them up to brand new and get the rotors and pads ordered soon!

    Quick update:

Parts in and ready for the rear brake upgrade!

They look great, although one of the parking brake motors has a crack in the plastic at one of hte mounting points. When I compare in ECSTuning, it looks like the parking brake motors all use the same part # from 2013 and up, so I should be able to donate my EPB from my Allroad over to that caliper.
Its summer here now, so I may not get around to do this for a few months, but everything is ready to go otherwise!

    ---

Lastly the wheel locks to keep my new Rotor wheels away from looters and rioters (though its in the garage anyway...)

At my current (slow) rate of upgrades, I believe a high flow cat would be next, and at that point I have the platform ready for Stage 2 right as my factory CPO warranty is over - doing this the right way around...wheels, tires, brakes, everything tip top shape THEN the tune!

Got the EPB off the S4 calipers and the crack is all the way through, so definitely swapping the ones from my Allroad, or I'll get a replacement. With the Phoenix heat, I don't trust this hairline crack not to spread and completely break off. Not safe!

Brand new TYC which is OE stamped right on the EPB is $135, so not a bank buster, but my Allroad ones should be a straight swap because everything I've read its just a 2013 cutoff and all B8's use the same part (Notice my donor broken one is 12-tooth gear, other models can use 6-tooth).

Not sure yet, problem is here in Phoenix we have emissions which will necessitate making sure the downstream O2 sensor works, so I need something that I can easily remove the tune to pass every 2-years.

You might want to still use the S4 EPB motors. I swapped my A4 ones onto my S5 rear calipers because theoretically they should work because I thought they were exactly the same. I kept getting the EPB failure and couldn't for the life of me figure it out. So my last resort was using the S5 EPB motors and all codes went away, and everything worked flawlessly.

I've begun! Here's details for future readers:

    ----

Break torque from wheel lugs 1/2 turn, do NOT remove any lugs.
Begin by raising the rear by using a floor jack with some wood on the rear differential.
Rest a jackstand on the frame rail using a protective piece if you'd like. Lower floorjack, but leave it slightly taking weight as 2nd safety stand.

    *if using VCDS* ($199)
Hook up battery trickle charger. I am using Noco Genius 2 on AGM mode ($49). This is imperative as parking brake module is sensitive to low voltage situations.
Load up VCDS > Parking Brake module (53) > Basic Settings 04 > Start Pad Lining Change. Parking brake will retract and stop after 10-15sec > Done > close.
Do NOT touch brake pedal or parking brake button from now onwards.
*alternative is to use a 12v battery and 2 wires on the brake motor with the plug removed. Not covered in this guide, VCDS or similar tool is recommended.

Remove lugs and wheel with 17mm socket.
13mm socket on top caliper bolt, 15mm wrench to counter-hold.
13mm wrench (socket won't fit due to lower suspension arm) & 15mm wrench to counter-hold.
Use screwdriver and pry out the caliper. Remove old pads. Set caliper aside, do not let it hang by the hose.

T-25 Torx the caliper set screw remove a few turns (leave in though)
Hit with a heavy hammer to disks to break any rust holding it on.

Going to clean up the brake dust shield...What you guys think? Spray it black?

Spraying the dust shield black would look really clean. That's one thing I wish I had thought about doing when I changed my rear rotors and pads last time.

Actually they cleaned up pretty nice...and I am out of black paint in the garage, so skipping over it.
Its less of a big deal due to the 330mm rotors filling the space up - The stock rotors stand out against the dust shield because the shield is oversized, I assume they use the same PN# on S4's and didn't bother making a smaller one for the A4's...cheaper to manufacture for Audi.

    One rotor on!

Have to tackle this job little by little...have a newborn that makes it near impossible to slip away for more than 30mins at a time...

Nice progress! I'll be cleaning up mine when I do my rears soon, although I am only replacing rotors and pads and keeping the calipers.

And congrats on the new baby! I totally relate to the time constraints with a toddler at home. :)

    Driver's side complete!
Clear proof both the calipers & brackets are necessary for the upgrade.

Note for readers- do NOT remove the brake fluid reservoir cap when you're ready to undo the brake line, as then you'll have gravity take over and lose a ton of brake fluid. If you keep the reservoir cap on, you lose minimal fluid and bleeding will be easier...and no risk of air in the ABS.

Now I can get started on the passenger side, then bleed the rears and done! Maybe another week...

Fantastic and worth every penny. I didn't like the stock feel at all, I found the braking was never linear - you had an initial bite which made modulation difficult. Maybe it was just the stock pads versus Akebono, but I imagine 4 pistons versus 2 helps keep an even pressure across the disk.
In addition, after I have the rear brakes done, I now have the stopping power ready for a future tune. I always do things methodically, and power is worthless (and unsafe) if you can't stop it.

Plus of course they just look great.

I have a couple different brake options in the garage, and am contemplating something else. One setup is definitely overkill, and I doubt if they'll clear my 18" wheels. I looked over your thread and you had reported feeling some sponginess after the initial install and bleed. I was curious as to if that went away.

    Looking good, btw.....

Yes it went away once I got all the air out. I made the mistake of forgetting I left the reservoir cap off, so enough drained down to get air into ABS module is my theory, took probably 12-15 bleeds, including rebleeding the rears multiple times...think the air kept going everywhere once it was in the ABS lines.

These Maccan brakes check all the boxes really, price, increased size, more pistons...anything bigger than these will have no bigger performance benefit, it'll be purely for looks unless you're pushing Stage 3.

Thanks for the update. Past Stg III at this point, so I'm definitely weighing options again

    Final photoshot for the day!

Love these Zimmerman rotors and they always look amazing for years, the Z-coat keeps them looking new like no other brand can right now.

So stock Allroad is 320mm Front, 300mm rear...
I am now at 345mm front and 330mm rear. My rears are bigger than the stock fronts now :)

Another tip: keep the reservoir cap closed and press down on the brake pedal and keep it pressed by wedging a stick between the seat and the pedal.
Then disconnect the line to the caliper.
You won't lose a drop of fluid.
Connect the line to the new caliper.
    Repeat for all calipers.
    Release brake.
    Bleed.
