    water pump toast..

Was driving home after work today and you guessed it, overheated. water pump pulley has a bit of a wobble to it A6 3.0t 101k miles so it's due for pump and belt. checked coolant hose temps by hand to see if it was thermostat too and all were good. Looking for a bit of extra tips and info you guys have about diy replacement and if there are any better aftermarket options. not much time to search every thread as it's my one and only daily so need it done asap. thanks in advance!

do all that you can while in there. I wish I would've done PCV first time around when doing WP. Also do thermostat.

Also you will possibly need to replace the front coolant pipe.

Make sure you car comfortable with Service Position on the car. Bolts needed (m8 x 1.25 , at least 80mm long) or get the fancy specific tools with rubber balls on end)

While in there, check vacuum pump and pulleys.

Definitely need to have serpentine belt tool.

I would also take opportunity to do the carbon clean if you have the ability and time.

Easiest place is you local hardware store. I gave the measurements earlier.

And yes, these water pumps should be improved and there should be a superceded part number.
