    My Salvage A4 B8

    Hello Audi Community,

    I need help:
I bought an A4 B8 and I need help fixing a couple things.

My car key do not open the doors or truck but does turn the car on.
I asked a friend for some help with scanning car and programming my key.

When he scanned the car this came up.

Don't mind the MAF code, I fixed that one.

He pinpointed the problem to this Module. It was not responding.

I was able to purchased a new module and I thought it would be a plug and play but like always is never that easy. When I replaced the old one with this new one the car does not even turn on. When I place the old module in the car it turns on but the doors and trunk do not open.

He also scanned the car this morning again and this codes came up:

Can someone please help me. I'm a noob to the community and to the Audi world. Always being an Acura guy and I'm exited to get this car running correct.

That module is pretty much THE module on the car and is unlikely to be plug and play for anyone. It will likely need component protection removal by dealer and for you to transfer the entire long coding from your old module to this replacement one. For example, this module holds info on your transmission type and needs to be told the correct type before the car will even start. This is one of many settings that need to be transferred.

I would definitely have VCDS connected to the car to make sure you can at least reach the new module.

The car will likely need to be driven to the dealer with the old module and you will need to swap to the new one before theyíll touch it to remove CP.

    Hi - pierreb -

I called the dealer and the service guy told me that they can do it, it would cost me $150+tax :-(.

I really don't have the money but I think I would need to invest in a VCDS cable, at $200 It hurt!
At least with the VCDS I can troubleshoot my cyl 4 misfire.

I just realized that the dealer should be able to download all the settings for your car to the new module, not just do the CP removal. Same as if you had to replace the ECU. It will restore all the modules to factory settings based on your VIN.

Iíve had my VCDS cable for 10yrs now. I love having it and itís helped out a bunch for other cars too.

Already placed the order for my cable.

Once it arrived Iíll start tackling my codes one by one.

My new headlight should be here on Wednesday and once I get them installed Iíll take the car to the dealer for the BC module.

Not attempting to be mean here. But if $150 or $200 has you stressed out, you bought the wrong car to maintain.

    x2.

A meticulously maintained B8 will eat up more than $200 in a hurry. A SALVAGE B8... quadruple the expenses.

$200 for a OBDII to usb cable, yes that hurt.

I would not mind giving that to maintain the vehicle.

Iím happy, tomorrow Wednesday Iíll be getting my left headlight, rubber floor mats and VCDS cable.

Hopefully on Thursday I can take the car to get inspected and a trip to the dealer to get my BCM reprogram.

I found the source of my cylinder 3 misfire:
The big question is, how can I replace a PA66 connector:
