Is anyone still balancing intermediate shafts for AEB motors? HX35 Source

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I cant seem to find any information as to who still performs this (or sells them with a core charge)

Also, it seems like used HX35 cores have dried up, or am I looking in the wrong place?

    Thanks in Advance,

Send them an email to get your IM shaft shaved down for AEB stroker.

    I just sold an HX35. They're around.

I'd imagine anyone who can balance a crank can do an IM shaft.

    Ty all

Where did you find yours? I specifically want to try an hy35w from the 01-02 ram auto. It seems like itís the quickest spooling option, and least sought after all around.

I find it hard to pick a turbo anymore, everyday I find something new I want.

Iím down to cheapest/journal bearing/no water compressor to make real power. Hx35ís a few years ago were everywhere, I guess as the trucks get older the people selling them off less (I guess)

Is precision still A quality level journal new?

The machining of the AEB IM shaft is to clearance for #4 rod, and oil pump drive gear on a stroker build, not for the purpose of balancing.

Well Mr Grape (can I call you Mr Grape?) how do you think they balance it? The only conceivable way would be to take high spots out of the shaft trying to minimize the weight variation across.

Not trying to bust your grapes.

@ kaydub- I ainít buying your shit because Iím cheap and only homos buy built blocks (and real race teams)

They don't balance them. If you look at it, it's a cast piece with machined bearing surfaces.

Any machine shop with a lathe can "balance" it. Just turn it down so there are no high spots/runout between the centers and it'll be as balanced as it'll get.

You obviously haven't called Tim yet, because he's got killer turbos for CHEAP.

Exactly, to minimize deviation of rotational mass.

    Where do I find Timmayyy?

I left my IM shaft alone. Replaced the bearings, but didn't touch the shaft (that's what she said).

LOL it's still sitting in my garage. Building the head right now. Hasn't seen any driving yet. But with the stuff I'm doing to it, I'm hoping for 8500rl

I balanced the crank, single mass flywheel, JE pistons, IE rods, and fluidamper though.
New cams (cat3658), new oem lifters, IE springs and retrainers, Ferrea exhaust valves.
So 8500 doesn't seem outrageous to me.

I mean pistons though, im not a big fan of the 2618 alloy used by JE (for daily use that is) but thats based on my own limited experience and knowledge. I saw Wiseco or someone came out with a "hybrid" alloy combining the best of both worlds, but snake oil is abundant so time will tell.
