    Steering Wheel Swap

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Pondering a wheel swap on my 2010 3.0t. I currently have the Tan interior with the greyish tan steering wheel (Piment Grey?). Just looking for some opinions on going full out rs6, flat bottom or sticking with the OEM color, just with the paddle shifters. Here is the one I am currently looking at :

    https://picclick.co.uk/Audi-A6-C6-A8-D3-Grey-4-Spoke-132481876560.html

I'm torn between this one and possibly picking up a flat bottom and having it reconditioned to match current interior.

My car is very subtle, oem +. Main reason for changing is simply the paddle shifters.

Will a C7 steering wheel work or do I have to stick with the C6?

Have Vag-com so coding paddles isnt an issue. Just looking for some feedback from you guys/girls.

    Thanks

If you have Tan interior... the wheel should be Moore Brown

The European S3 came with a Moore Brown flatbottom and paddle shift.
Apparently if you can find and get programmed its works in our C6's

I seriously feel like that's a totally different car from what I have....

I love black interior over anything, but this just looks clean as fuck!!!!

What steering wheel is that? It totally changes the car. I would like to have that steering wheel for my car in black leather.

Is it possible to put the cutout before the catalytic converter?

Or even in this case will it do nothing?

I am also interested in the sound as well

Not in the stock location. Also if the cats are downstream they will be subjected to less heat and fair much better.

Are you aware of cooling options for c6.5 a6 3.0t

Every cooling upgrade seems to only apply to b8 s4

Is that a stage 1 airbag or 2? I thought the stock steering wheel was similar to the B7.

the steering wheels changed from our C6 style when the B8.5 came out, along with the C7 and a couple others around that time. I have here a 8K steering wheel which i believe is dual stage airbag. I have plugged in single stage before and it also worked. We are supposed to use a dual stage?

does anyone here have experience in swapping a C6 non-paddle wheel to one with paddles? Ive heard that all you need is some VAG-COM coding, but has anyone actually done it?

I have done it. Simple process. Takes about 15 min start to finish. If you need a wheel, I have one...

That is going to be pretty hard. I have the airbag too if you decide on the black.

I assume if my stock wheel is heated and the new one with paddles is as well it should work without issue?

I would think so. The issue I have with my "new" wheel is that my original wheel was NOT heated and the "new" wheel is heated and has paddles. I was able to get the paddles to work but for the life of me I cannot get the heat to work. I have given up. I saw somewhere that I would need to get a new clock spring column (or something like that) for it to work. It isn't that important.

I went wild tracing wiring diagrams and stuff but it ended up being very simple. The C7 wheel I have had the newer style buttons which will not communicate with our cars. I had to install buttons from a B8.5 wheel and make a small trim of the clock spring connector and just like that everything works. My next hurtle is getting the heat working on this C7 wheel.

At this point I'll shoot for a pre-2012 wheel (non-updated) from an A/S4 or an A/S6 to avoid the button and heating problems. My main issue is finding one appropriately colored
