I'm roadtripping with my S4 from California to Eastern Iowa and will be in the area for a day or two. I'm especially interested in any overlooks or locations with good backdrops for a few pictures. Any advice from the locals?

X2, also, a very short drive to Pike's Peak. It's a national park, so there's a fee to get in, but very worth the experience driving to 14k+ elevation! I'm sure you could pull off some interesting pics there.

They donít allow you to drive to the top anymore. They recently changed to a shuttle system to get to the top.

A nit: it's not a national park, but there is a fee. And last time I checked, it wasn't exactly cheap to get up there no matter how you did it. Well, hiking would be cheap, but then you're hiking a 14er

I think that was just temporary while they are doing construction at the summit. Best to check though before planning the drive.

I just called. I think youíre right. Sounds like you can now either take your own vehicle or the shuttle.

Since you'll be getting your fill of straight roads from Denver to IA no matter which interstate you take, I would suggest you take Hwy 24 to 67 to 126 to Pine Valley Rd to 285 on your way out. It's not that much of a detour. That should be enough twisty roads to last your suspension a good year or so.
