Heads up for B9 S4/5 guys...... Bosch BMW ECU/DME has been cracked.... same as B9

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Guys just wanted to let everyone know since I follow the BMW boards that the Bosch ECU/DME that are in the BMWs (which is the same as the B9 Audis) has finally been cracked for flashing. (finally)

They are supposed to start flash tuning 335's and 340's in the next few weeks, so its only a matter of time until APR, Revo, and everyone else follow suit for Audi models.

    If anyone wants to read....

    http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54066

Just a friendly update for everyone. :)

Heard a rumor MTM was in the MG1 ECU as well but wasn't able to find any info on it. From the n54 link it appears they are able to keep the dealer ID and original programming ID which sounds promising for those concerned about being flagged for TD1. Can't wait to see what the S4 can put out with a proper tune.

Found this video on the Femto OBD Flasher: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2_Rzurc1Dc

Where are you living, on the moon? Epl offers flash @home tuning, no TD1 if you flash back to stock before going to the dealer.

If they dig they will find it. Just depends if itís a regular service/recall or if itís a big repair.

If everyone waits a few weeks for bootmod or one of the big vendors to come out with the tuning solution the TD1 doesn't get flagged in the ECU.

Its the same as if you guys had an APR emcs tune in your car in the past..... if you flashed back to stock its imperceptible.

Bootmod saves a complete copy of your stock map, and runs the flashed map. When you go into service if you flash the car all the way back to stock (your copied stock map) the car will not show anything was done at all. There's tons of info about it online. The new style M3 and M4 have been running this type of flash for a few years now. When you go back to the stock map even if you have engine damage, the car just shows it was trying to meet the target boost the DME was calling for, thats what took so long for them to crack in this ECU..... because when they lowered the target numbers and the car went to make more boost to meet the new target (higher boost but stock to the DME) , the new DME would lean the car out instead of richen it, or back the boost or timing or both off until the target came back up. Tough to explain.... BUT NO TD1 definitely.

So you guys are saying that there would be no logs that would throw a red flag that can be seen if they dig deep enough? Even after thousands if not 10s of thousands of miles driven with a modified DME?

Lol ok buddy. Thereís plenty of ways Audi now can tell if cars were flashed. Even when flashed back to stock EPL, APR, or the likes... trust me. Not my first rodeo.

Plus the TD1 comment was meant as a joke... the B8 board blew up with those topics /threads. Now with this platform nearing with an actual ecu tune Iím excited honestly. Just like anything else you gotta pay to play. Nothing has changed.

Iíve had my gearbox repaired as well. It was depends on dealership and tech. After the dealer fixed the car they (AoA) wanted to run a spec actual scan on the car. These cars have black boxes too. They record the boost levels, and all that stuff. Like the previous person said if they want to dig into it they can find it. Audi can now tell if cars were flashed by drive assistance system now as well.

Features that may make it a little harder to detect a tune.

    Benefits
FEMTO calculates all checksums inside FLASH (also known as CS)
CVN and CALID will be automatically corrected to match stock
Dealer program ID number remains the same as original
Date of programming will not be changed

    More info guys:

Officially released on the BMW 340 and 330. It also states that it will not throw the TD1 code and is UNDETECTABLE as the DME is fooled into being frozen in time.... it doesn't log or store information when it's flashed onto the new program, when you flash it back to virtual stock, it begins to work as it does from the factory..... if you read the article here, it explains it in better language then I can:

Until the OEM catches on, reflash ECU and locks it out again. I say keep quiet/don't advertise the intricacy of the hack and they will never know..

just curious, will they be able to "patch" the ECU in the future so they can detect the tune? i wonder if that has ever happened before

Sub'd, here is a dutch company that has cracked DME on BMWs that I found going down the rabbit hole on a few sites. They are showing pretty serious gains. Not clear if this is a target or if they have already tuned to 440hp/~457tq. Pretty exciting potential!

A few companies already selling the flashes.

It's only a matter of time before Audi tuners announce something...... would be great timing with waterfest being this weekend. :D
