2015 RS7 No Longer Giving Traffic Updates in Nav...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I purchased a 2015 rs7 a couple of moths ago...best car I've owned by far..but I have one question. Until a couple of weeks ago when I used the nav, I would get live traffic updates, accidents, an eta that included traffic, etc...just like in my bmw's. Then a couple of weeks ago they stopped. I can't see anything wrong in the setup and I received no notice that I was being shut off from some subscription...But I'm thinking you have to pay for this safety feature with Audi. Am I right or is it something I need to set up that I haven't found yet?

    Thanks

Yes. Dealer probably included 2 or 3 months of trial Sirius XM subscription with traffic updates. If you need it get in touch with Sirius XM and select a plan that works for you.

Thanks. Looks like it costs about $4/month. Not a big deal, but audi clearly might have included that on an rs7...I'm just sayin'...

I looked at the map, looks like the service is only in and around major cities. Once you get away from big cities, there is no coverage? While I know there isn't a lot of traffic in the middle of NV, it might be nice to know if there was a bad accident. Do people subscribe to this service in their Audis?

I was told the traffic was pre paid for 4 years from new thru Sirius Xm after that itís a small amount added on Sirius subscription.

Audi included a 4-year complimentary traffic subscription, but the original owner most likely removed the radio from his account once he/she sold the car effectively terminating the service. They might have done it after you bought the car, so you still had service initially.

As for coverage, it does cover all major roads, but outside metropolitan areas you only get traffic incident reports such as accidents, road closures etc. You don't get traffic flow information. That's only available in major areas. So if you are driving in the middle of NV and there is a reported accident or road closure it will still know that, but it won't know how bad the traffic is.

So if the original owner removed the radio from his account but the car is only 3 years old, is the original complimentary info transferable to me, and if so how would I get it done? I don't want to pay for it if it is supposed to be included... :)

No, it's not transferrable. It stays with the original owner's SiriusXM account.
