    Resealing the 4.2 intake manifold...

I have a B7 S4 with the 4.2. When I took the intake manifold apart to get the top part powdercoated, the rubber seal inside wasn't cooperating. I cleaned off the rubber and gasket material and used my own silicone gasket maker. I don't seem to have any vacuum leaks or anything, but I was wondering if I am the only one who has run into this? Is there a better method of assembly?

I just recently split and resealed a 4.2 mani on my 2002 s6 motor. I just took RTV and ran a thin line over that gasket and where there was rtc originally and It seemed to work fine.
